A microbiologist in the USA studies microorganisms such as bacteria, viruses, fungi, and algae to understand their impact on humans, animals, plants, and the environment. Their work often involves conducting research, performing laboratory experiments, and analyzing samples to diagnose diseases, develop new medicines, or improve industrial processes. Microbiologists may work in a variety of settings, including research institutions, healthcare facilities, environmental organizations, and government agencies. Their findings can contribute to public health, food safety, and advancements in biotechnology.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a microbiologist in the USA?
