JOB SUMMARY

The Field Services Manager is responsible for overseeing all routes for the field services team to successfully manage and support the department. In addition, supporting the overall operation of the laboratory by both collecting and picking up samples of a variety of sample types, storing and delivering them to the designated laboratory location in an efficient and timely manner while following all established SOP’s and safety guidelines.
Essential Functions:

  • Responsible for financial viability of the field services group.
  • Routinely review charges, making sure they are accurate for all field services activity and communicate these changes with the CS staff.
  • Ability to manage all aspects of the field services equipment. Including, but not limited to, vehicles, vehicle maintenance, GPS units, sampling equipment, etc.
  • Responsible for adding new field services offerings. Ongoing process improvement is necessary.
  • Manage the field services staff. Routine performance feedback.
  • Safely and efficiently operate a company vehicle to drive to and from client locations for the purposes of collecting and retrieving samples and deliver them to the laboratory.
  • Provide exceptional customer service while promoting the Company’s brand through professional interactions with clients and observable safe driving practices.
  • Collect various types of environmental samples as well as pick-up previously collected samples and deliver them to the laboratory.
  • Perform field analysis pertinent to proper sampling protocol such as pH, temperature and flow.
  • Maintain sample collection equipment and instrumentation.
  • Maintain storage of samples in accordance with established SOP’s.
  • Ensure legal documentation is complete and accurate. (i.e.; Chain of Custody Forms)
  • Maintain regular communication with internal management regarding samples, schedules, customer requirements, problems, delays, and/or complaints.
  • Observe all applicable roadway laws.
  • Maintain the cleanliness of the Company vehicle.
  • Maintain accurate logs, records and other documentation as required.
  • Prepare sample containers to be delivered and used by customers to collect samples.
  • Ensure samples are appropriately labeled and assist with sample log-in efforts.
  • Provide technical assistance to customers within realm of capabilities; or refer to senior management.
  • May organize, plan and schedule own pickup routes based on communicated needs of customers by working with the Customer Service team to coordinate effectively.
  • Manage all routes for field services team.
  • Prepare, deliver and distribute sampling supplies for customers and field services team in a timely manner according to sample schedules maintained in LIMS and shared calendars.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High-school diploma
  • A minimum of 2 years of related experience
  • Familiarity with automated sampling techniques and/or knowledge and understanding of general principles of sanitation and proper sample handling and storage
  • Ability to set up and remove sampling equipment
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instruction
  • Above average attention to detail
  • Good verbal communication skills
  • Ability to operate a Company vehicle and observe all applicable safety protocols and laws
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record (over previous 36 months)
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Associate degree in a related field of study

Working Conditions:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be in a general office environment.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
  • This job may require travel less than 20%
