Summary:

The Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Coordinator supports the implementation and maintenance of environmental, health, and safety programs to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. This role works closely with the Facility Compliance team, Plant & Facilities Technicians, and cross-functional partners to identify hazards, implement improvements, and promote a strong safety culture across the organization.

Level I:

Responsible for assisting with environmental and safety compliance activities under supervision, including supporting inspections, basic risk assessments, documentation, and safety initiatives. The role focuses on learning regulatory requirements, providing administrative and field support, and participating in training and corrective action follow-up, while developing technical knowledge and cross-functional communication skills.

Level II:

Responsible for supporting environmental and safety compliance programs, conducting inspections and risk assessments, coordinating safety activities, and assisting with training and corrective actions. This role emphasizes technical support, regulatory knowledge, and cross-functional collaboration without direct management responsibilities.

Essential Job Functions:

Environmental & Regulatory Compliance
Assist with compliance efforts related to environmental regulations including air, water, hazardous waste, and chemical management.
Support environmental programs such as stormwater, air quality, hazardous materials handling, and waste management.
Assist with inspections, audits, and reporting required by regulatory agencies (e.g., OSHA, EPA, DTSC, CUPA/CERS).
Maintain environmental and safety documentation and records.
Safety Program Support
Support the implementation and maintenance of safety policies, procedures, and programs.
Conduct routine safety inspections and risk assessments to identify hazards and recommend corrective actions.
Assist with incident investigations, root cause analysis, and tracking corrective actions to closure.
Support OSHA compliance activities including recordkeeping, reporting, and follow-up actions.
Safety Committee & Training
Lead and coordinate Safety Committee meetings, including agenda preparation, meeting facilitation, and documentation of action items.
Assist with the coordination and delivery of safety training (e.g., PPE, Hazard Communication, Lockout/Tagout).
Promote employee engagement in safety initiatives and continuous improvement efforts.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Work closely with Facility Compliance team members and Plant & Facilities Technicians to implement safety and environmental improvements.
Partner with HR, Facilities, Engineering, and Operations teams to support workplace safety initiatives.
Support emergency preparedness activities and drills as directed.
Documentation & Reporting
Maintain accurate records of safety incidents, inspections, corrective actions, and training activities.
Assist with preparation of internal reports related to EHS performance and compliance.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Working knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and applicable state and local EHS regulations.
Strong communication, organizational, and documentation skills.
Ability to conduct inspections, identify hazards, and recommend practical solutions.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and basic safety management systems.
Ability to work collaboratively with technicians, supervisors, and cross-functional teams.

Education and Experience:

Minimum High School Diploma or GED

2-3 years of EHS experience in a manufacturing, industrial, or facilities environment.

Familiarity with OSHA and environmental compliance requirements.

Physical Demands:

Must be able to periodically walk to other areas of the plant, must have good eyesight and hand dexterity, and be able to identify and distinguish colors.

Work Environment:

Within safety guidelines, there will be exposure to noise, moving mechanical parts, oils/solvents, fumes, and odors that may affect the eyes, ears, nose, throat and/or skin.
