What is a micro influencer?

A Micro Influencer job involves promoting brands, products, or services to a small but highly engaged online audience, typically ranging from 1,000 to 100,000 followers. Micro Influencers create content on social media platforms like Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube, partnering with brands to generate awareness and drive engagement. They focus on niche markets and build strong relationships with their followers, which makes their recommendations more authentic and effective. Companies value Micro Influencers for their ability to connect with audiences in a relatable and personal way.

What are some typical daily responsibilities for a micro influencer?

Micro Influencers typically spend their days brainstorming and creating engaging content, posting to social media, and interacting with their followers through comments, direct messages, or live streams. They may also research brands, negotiate partnerships, track campaign performance using analytics, and keep up with current trends to ensure their content remains relevant. Collaborating with other creators or attending industry events can also be part of the job. Balancing creativity, communication, and administrative tasks is key to maintaining a consistent presence and building a loyal audience.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in the micro influencer position, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Micro Influencer, you need strong content creation abilities, an authentic personal brand, and a deep understanding of your target audience on social media platforms. Familiarity with analytics tools like Instagram Insights, TikTok Analytics, and content scheduling applications is often important, though formal certifications are not required. Creativity, consistency, effective communication, and the ability to engage and build trust with followers are key soft skills. These skills and qualities are vital for growing your audience, collaborating with brands, and sustaining influence in a highly competitive digital space.

Job description

POSITION OVERVIEW: The Social Media Manager – North America leads the development, execution, and optimization of Chiquita’s social media strategy across the U.S. (general market and Hispanic) and Canada. This senior individual contributor role is responsible for building an always-on social presence that translates Chiquita’s cultural brand equity—anchored in Miss Chiquita and core campaign platforms—into sustained follower growth, engagement, and measurable business impact.

This role owns content strategy, platform management, community building, influencer programs, and performance analytics across Instagram and TikTok, supported by agency resources. The ideal candidate combines strategic thinking, platform-native creativity, strong data acumen, and a passion for social culture and storytelling.

This role leads through agency and influencer partners. A strong brand marketing foundation, familiarity with trade marketing, and a willingness to support broader marketing initiatives are essential.

The position is based in Fort Lauderdale, FL reporting to the Director of Marketing, North America

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead end-to-end social media strategy across North America, including content planning, channel management, community engagement, and performance reporting.
  • Develop and manage an always-on content calendar, maintaining consistent publishing cadence and algorithmic momentum year-round.
  • Create recurring content franchises (e.g., Reels series, carousel programs, UGC features) to drive sustained engagement beyond campaign cycles.
  • Execute platform-specific strategies, optimizing Reels, Stories, and TikTok content for reach, engagement, and conversion metrics (e.g., watch time, saves, shares, DM activity).
  • Lead a TikTok-first workflow, identifying trends and deploying content within 24–48 hours.
  • Activate Instagram Stories as a daily engagement channel using interactive tools (polls, Q&A, UGC reshares, etc.).
  • Align social content with brand platforms (“Pop by Nature,” “Likely the Best Snack Ever,” “Small Changes, Big Difference”), leveraging Miss Chiquita in culturally relevant ways for Gen Z and Millennials.
  • Oversee agency partners, including briefing, workflow management, approvals, and performance accountability.
  • Build and manage an always-on micro-influencer network (10–15 creators, 10K–100K followers) and support broader influencer initiatives.
  • Monitor, analyze, and report on key performance metrics, translating insights into actionable strategies.
  • Conduct social listening and competitive analysis to identify trends, opportunities, and best practices.
  • Ensure integration with broader marketing efforts, including paid media, shopper marketing, experiential, and campaigns.
  • Manage social media budget, including agency, influencers, and production, with accountability for ROI.
  • Drive innovation through test-and-learn initiatives and social commerce activations (Instagram Shopping, TikTok Shop).
  • Present performance reviews, insights, and strategic recommendations to stakeholders.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to ensure social media amplifies overall brand objectives.
  • Maintain strong project management, organization, and attention to detail across all initiatives, with flexibility to operate outside standard business hours as needed.
