To thrive as an MFT Associate, you need a master's degree in marriage and family therapy or a closely related field, state registration as an Associate, and foundational knowledge in psychotherapy and systemic family dynamics. What are the typical supervision and mentorship opportunities available to MFT Associates?

As an MFT Associate, you are typically required to work under the supervision of a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist to fulfill state licensure requirements. Most employers and private practices offer structured weekly or bi-weekly supervision, where you can receive feedback, case consultation, and guidance on clinical documentation.
