UnityPoint Health Des Moines is actively recruiting a Maternal Fetal Medicine physician to join their team at our Perinatal Center in Des Moines, IA
Practice maternal-fetal medicine in a relational, patient-centered environment and enjoy quality of life in a city that’s recognized as a great place to live!
Team
- Join a growing MFM team built around work/life balance
- Experience strong support from robust, experienced staff: 6 perinatal specialty nurses, 9 fetal echo-certified sonographers (combined 171 years of experience!), an RN care coordinator, Diabetic Educator and 2 UnityPoint Genetic Counselors.
Role
- Consultative only – no delivery or surgery requirements beyond cerclage procedures
- Patient-facing MFM practice run at a pace that emphasizes quality of care - Max of 10-12 patients/day
- 4 clinic and/or call days, ½ day admin time per week, weekend call rotation
- Call 1:3 max ARNP first call for diabetic patients
Facility
- UPH Des Moines Perinatal Center is operated by Blank Children’s Hospital and has a large referral base from the surrounding community (both metro hospitals had a combined total of over 5,000 deliveries in 2023)
- UnityPoint Iowa Methodist Hospital is a designated level 3 perinatal center
- Level IIIB NICU
- Modern and fully equipped clinic adjacent to the hospital has 5-GE E-10 and 1-GE E-22 ultrasound machines, integrated GE Viewpoint, and EPIC EMR
- In 2023, our Perinatal Center cared for over 5,100 patients with high-risk maternal and fetal conditions.
- MD/DO or ECFMG certified foreign equivalent
- BC/BE in OBGYN and Maternal-Fetal Medicine
- Fetal echocardiogram experience preferred but not required
- Hold an unrestricted license to practice in Iowa
