The Manufacturing Engineer reports to the Manufacturing Engineering Manager.
Job Summary
The Manufacturing Engineer will be a key part of EP2's metal fabrication department ensuring we consistently drive the highest performance in terms of Safety-Quality-Cost-Delivery in a high-mix, low-volume production environment. The Manufacturing Engineer will be responsible for creating and improving manufacturing systems and processes at Electrical Power Products, Inc. while producing designs and technical drawings for products, devices, equipment, and fixtures.
Responsibilities and Duties
• Review drawings for errors or missing dimensions.
• Internal drawing creation based on customer provided specifications.
• Develop individual sheet metal part models and drawings from 2D assembly drawing.
• Structural member development for panel framing and device mounting.
• Piece count required for specified panel quantity.
• Material allocation and inventory charge out.
• Design review and development for device mounting and new customer products.
• Process development and documentation for manufacturing and design stages.
• Ensuring process is capable and all parts are made to specification (quality compliance).
Skills
• CAD experience, AutoCAD or comparable platform experience (2D drawings).
• Inventor/Solidworks CAD or comparable platform experience (3D modeling/2D drawings).
• Bysoft or comparable (sheet metal CAM).
• Sheet metal design and understanding of fabrication processes
• Experience with laser-cutting equipment, press brake operations, welding, etc. strongly desired.
• Strong communication and team skills are a must.
• Measuring and designing for proper fitment and clearances.
• Project Management skills and capabilities.
• Lean/Process Improvement skills.
• ISO/Quality Management Systems knowledge.
Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, and other appropriate engineering software. Preferably 3 plus years of 2D/3D CAD experience.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
