The Metrology Engineer serves as the technical leader for the metrology department, supporting a team of metrology programmers while driving measurement strategy, process improvements, and project execution. This role bridges Engineering and Operations, ensuring alignment on inspection requirements, capability, and data integrity. The Metrology Engineer is responsible for leading initiatives that improve efficiency, standardize processes, and enhance measurement capabilities, while also evaluating and implementing new inspection technologies to support business needs.

What will you be doing?

  • Serve as the technical authority and leader for the metrology team, providing guidance, mentoring, and technical direction to Metrology Programmers.

  • Establish best practices for inspection strategy, programming standards, and measurement methods.

  • Support dimensional inspection planning, fixture design, GD&T interpretation, and advanced measurement challenges.

  • Lead and manage metrology-related projects, including new product launches, equipment implementation, and process improvements.

  • Prioritize and coordinate team workload to support production, engineering, and quality requirements.

  • Ensure metrology deliverables align with project timelines and operational needs.

  • Develop, standardize, and improve metrology processes, documentation, and workflows.

  • Identify gaps in current processes and drive corrective actions and long-term solutions.

  • Act as the primary interface between Engineering, Quality, and Operations for all metrology-related topics.

  • Communicate technical information clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

  • Evaluate new metrology and inspection technologies, software, and tools to improve capability and efficiency.

  • Support justification, selection, and implementation of new equipment and measurement systems.

  • Ensure measurement systems comply with internal standards and applicable quality requirements.

  • Support measurement system analysis (MSA), capability studies, and audit activities as required.

  • Assist with problem-solving efforts related to measurement variation and data integrity.

What will you need to be successful?

  • Bachelor's degree in an Engineering discipline.

  • ASQ and/or ASME certification is a plus.

  • Minimum 5 years of strong background in metrology, dimensional inspection and measurement systems:

  • Experience in programming of metrology equipment (CMM, Vision, etc.) Preferred.

  • Strong knowledge in GD&T interpretation.

  • Proven ability to lead technically, influence others and manage projects.

  • Strong communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally.
