Job description

Sioux Area Metro is South Dakota's largest transportation provider. Our mission is to have a positive social and economic impact on the community by providing a safe and reliable transportation option for all who live, work, or play in Sioux Falls.
As a CDL Driver at SAM by Via, you will drive buses and provide outstanding customer service to riders in the immediate Sioux Falls area.
What You'll Do:
  • Drive buses in heavy or light city and highway traffic, in all conditions, and following all rules and regulations in a productive and timely manner
  • Safely and courteously, operate lift-equipped vehicles to transport elderly and/or disabled persons
  • Learn the fundamentals of SAM by Via operations and related safety procedures
  • Perform the routine operation of agency vehicles

Who You Are:
  • Possess good knowledge of the city
  • Able to follow written and verbal instruction
  • Able to operate a bus within standard safety guidelines to ensure public safety
  • Able to deal effectively and courteously with all customers and the public
  • Hold a valid SD driver's license; Class B CDL with passenger and air brake endorsement is a plus. We can train you to obtain one.
  • Able to pass a pre-employment physical
  • Pass a drug screening and background check: no felonies, clean MVR, no DUI/DWI or reckless driving convictions, and no more than 2 speeding tickets
  • At least 25 years old
  • Able to apply in person at the Sioux Area Metro office

Compensation and Benefits
  • Final salary will be determined by the candidate's experience, knowledge, and skills.
  • Salary Range: Starting at $22.50/hour during training/probation with increases up to $25.00
  • Benefits include health, dental, and life insurance, 401K with up to 6% company match, holiday pay, vacation, and bonus days
