See Yourself as an Economist

The economist's primary function is to provide analysis on Micro and Macro trends to inform strategic decisions. The focus of the analysis will be mortgage and housing related (home prices and unemployment) and will require effective summarization and presentation. As a member of Radian's quantitative analytics team, the senior economist will also be relied on for insight into potential improvements to mortgage modeling, economic scenario simulation, cost of capital modeling, economic capital, and risk appetite.

  • Researching potential improvements to models, economic capital, and portfolio optimization.

  • Development and maintenance of metro level fundamental home price valuation, market home price valuation and unemployment econometric models.

Qualifications:

Basic Education and Prior Work-Related Experience:

  • Degree Requirement: Doctorate Degree or Equivalent Experience

  • Work Experience: 3 or more years of prior work-related experience

  • Any suitable combination of experience of education, training, or experience is acceptable.

Additional Qualifications:

  • Understanding of mortgage, housing, employment, and interest rates including awareness of economics conditions and trends impacting the industry.

  • Ability to communicate technical information clearly and concisely to individuals from various backgrounds.

  • Working knowledge of advanced statistical modeling techniques relevant to mortgage and interest rate modeling.

  • Able to work in a team environment.

  • Able to effectively summarize and communicate relevant findings and other information.

  • Data manipulation and programming in support of market analysis.

  • Forecasting and modeling of economic and financial conditions.

  • Creation of analytical presentations and communications.

  • Presentation of findings to senior management.

  • Analysis and recommendations on alternative credit structures, risk sharing arrangements, and/or non-traditional manners in which to participate and take on credit risk as appropriate and necessary.
