Job description

SUMMARY

Perform, direct, and coordinate activities involved in design, analysis, fabrication, operation, application,

installation, and repair of mechanical or electromechanical products and systems.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

Review customer statement of work (SOW) documents, specifications, and manuals to ensure all

requirements are met or exceeded for projects involving new product design, hardware modification, and engineering analyses.

Design components of mechanical, thermal, hydraulic, pneumatic, or heat transfer systems such as instruments, controls, robots, engines, machines, and structures.

Prepare or direct preparation of product or system layouts, detailed drawings, and schematics.

Perform engineering analyses of components and systems using finite element analysis (FEA), computational fluid dynamics (CFD), classical hand calculations, and other methods.

Analyze airflow of jet engine test facilities using CFD to determine acceptable performance characteristics versus specification requirements.

Provide training to engineering staff covering CFD and FEA theory, methodology, and data analysis.

Support marketing efforts to provide CFD and FEA services to outside customers.

Direct personnel in fabrication of test control apparatus and equipment, as well as the development of methods and procedures for testing products or systems. Actively participate in product testing.

Direct and coordinate fabrication and installation activities to ensure products and systems conform to required industry and government standards, as well as customer specifications.

Coordinate maintenance and repair activities.

Evaluate field installations and recommend design modifications to eliminate machine or systemmalfunctions, as well as improve system performance.

Work with Technical Publications Group to revise and create Technical Orders, Manuals, and other documentation.

Assist in developing quotes and technical proposals.

Stay current on engineering software capabilities and techniques, as well as physical testing methods.

Work to stay within project budgets and schedules.

Evaluate engineering, manufacturing, and business processes, making suggestions as appropriate to drive change and improve Atec's operations.

Work to develop, mentor, and train junior engineers, assisting in the review of their work.

Perform other related duties, as assigned, for the purpose of ensuring an efficient and effective work environment.

Ensure activities are conducted in accordance with Atec International Standards Organization

(AS9100/ISO) policies and correct and report any deviations to appropriate area manager/supervisor.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's degree (B.S.) from four-year college or university; or five (5) or more years related experience and / or training; or combination of education and experience.

Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering Technology preferred.

Extensive experience using 3-D Solid Modeling software (SolidWorks), Structural FEA (ANSYS or SolidWorks Simulation), CFD software (ANSYS CFX / FLUENT or SolidWorks Flow Simulation), MATLAB, and Microsoft Office products.
