We are seeking a compassionate and motivated Registered Nurse (RN) to join our dynamic cardiology team at the Methodist Hospital Specialty Clinic. This is a great opportunity for nurses who are passionate about patient-centered cardiovascular care and interested in developing their skills in the cardiology specialty. In this role, you will help triage and assess patient needs, coordinate care, and support patients and families as they manage complex cardiovascular conditions. You will work closely with experienced cardiologists and healthcare professionals in a supportive and collaborative environment.

Responsibilities
Patient Assessment & Triage
• Evaluate incoming patient phone calls to determine the urgency of cardiac-related symptoms and appropriate next steps.
• Provide telephone triage for symptoms such as chest pain, shortness of breath, palpitations, dizziness, edema, or blood pressure concerns, and guide patients to the appropriate level of care or follow-up.
Care Coordination
• Assist in coordinating urgent and emergent care for patients with acute or worsening cardiovascular conditions (e.g., chest pain, heart failure exacerbation, arrhythmias, syncope).
• Communicate efficiently with cardiologists and clinical team members to ensure timely and effective care.
Patient & Family Education
• Educate patients and caregivers on cardiovascular conditions, treatment plans, medications, and lifestyle modifications.
• Offer ongoing support and resources tailored to each patient's needs, including symptom monitoring and when to seek urgent care.
Clinical Documentation & Follow-Up
• Accurately document all patient interactions, assessments, and care plans using the electronic health record (EHR).
• Track patient outcomes and coordinate follow-up care, diagnostic testing, and referrals to ensure continuity of care.
Qualifications
  • Licensure: Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in Iowa
  • Experience: All levels of RN experience will be considered. Prior experience in neurology or specialty care is a plus, but not required.
  • Education: Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
  • For positions within UnityPoint Clinic, team members may be required to work at or to float to other locations to support optimized staffing
