Position Summary

A leading manufacturer of precision automotive drivetrain components is seeking a Quality Engineer to become the primary engineering resource within its Quality department. Reporting directly to the Quality Manager, this role will support manufacturing quality, supplier quality, new product development, and continuous improvement initiatives while serving as the technical backup to the Quality Manager.

This is a highly collaborative, hands-on position where you'll partner daily with Engineering, Manufacturing, Purchasing, and Quality teams to improve inspection methods, solve complex quality issues, and ensure products meet customer expectations. The ideal candidate enjoys spending time on the manufacturing floor just as much as analyzing data and reviewing engineering drawings.

What You'll Do

• Develop and improve quality standards, inspection methods, and inspection documentation

• Review engineering drawings and GD&T requirements to ensure products can be effectively manufactured and inspected

• Lead root cause investigations, corrective actions, and continuous improvement initiatives

• Support supplier quality activities, customer concerns, and nonconformance investigations

• Analyze quality data and trends to identify improvement opportunities

• Partner with Engineering during new product development to improve manufacturability and quality

• Provide technical guidance to Quality Inspectors and cross-functional teams

• Collaborate with Manufacturing, Purchasing, Inventory Control, and Sales to resolve quality issues and improve processes

What You Bring

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related technical discipline

• 5+ years of Quality Engineering experience within a manufacturing environment

• Strong ability to read engineering drawings and interpret GD&T

• Experience with root cause analysis, corrective actions, and quality problem solving

• Knowledge of inspection methods, metrology, and measurement systems

• Strong communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally

• Experience supporting manufacturing quality and continuous improvement initiatives

Preferred Qualifications

• Automotive or precision machining manufacturing experience

• Supplier Quality Engineering experience

• Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma knowledge

• ISO 9001 Quality Management System experience

• ASQ certification or other formal quality training

• Experience supporting new product introduction and manufacturability reviews

Why This Opportunity

• Serve as the lead engineering resource within the Quality department

• High visibility with Manufacturing and Engineering leadership

• Broad exposure across supplier quality, manufacturing quality, and new product development

• Stable, well-established manufacturing company with a collaborative culture

• Day One medical benefits and strong retirement program

• Opportunity to make a direct impact on product quality and manufacturing performance

• Long-term career growth within a growing engineering organization

Based on your recent feedback, I think this is a much cleaner style going forward. It's about 30–40% shorter than the previous versions, keeps the most important selling points, and is much easier to read on LinkedIn, Word, and mobile while still giving recruiters enough technical detail to qualify candidates.
