Overview:
TE Connectivity Energy Division is seeking a High Voltage Technician to join our Fuquay Varina team. The High Voltage Technician will perform electrical testing on high voltage components (46kV and above) in a laboratory environment to support Engineering, Research and Development.
Job Requirements
  • Individual works within an assigned area in a team environment
  • Work will be primarily carried out in an HV lab environment on-site, with occasional coordination of tests at external premises
  • Individual will work with HV cable and cable accessories and HV test equipment for measurement and confirmation of Partial Discharge, AC HiPot and Impulse performance
  • Prepare HV cable and install cable accessories for testing to IEEE, IEC and other industry standards
  • Must document test and measurement data and may assist in preparation of test reports
  • Plans work in accordance to Electrical and Occupational Safety and electromagnetic interference to surrounding environment
  • Adherence to all applicable safety rules and practices and utilize appropriate personal protective gear during course of work Experience:
  • Minimum of 5 years of high voltage cable preparation and cable accessory installation and testing experience (46-230kV); experience with cable preparation tools and procedures
  • Experience operating and troubleshooting HV test equipment (Transformers, PD detector, impulse generator); experience with ohm meter, volt meter, amp meter etc.); understand electric circuits, proficient with oscilloscopes and data acquisition equipment, proficient with electrical test equipment
  • Familiarity with insulators and surge arresters (46-230kV) is desirable

  • Plan and perform electrical qualification tests on high voltage cables and cable accessories according to industry standards
  • Demonstrate proficiency with cable preparation and accessory installation tools and possess strong electrical and mechanical aptitude
  • Requires a High School diploma or local equivalent and at least 5 years of related experience
  • Two year Technical college Diploma (preferred)
  • Journeymen's Papers (preferred)

Capabilities: Moderate to heavy lifting may be required, keep organized notebook, plan and manage multiple test programs, collect and manage test data, write test reports, MS Office skills, ability to read assembly instructions and drawings, ability to drive projects to completion in a timely manner with high realization of objectives

COMPENSATION
• Competitive base salary commensurate with experience: $67,000 - $83,700 (subject to change dependent on physical location)
• Posted salary ranges are made in good faith. TE Connectivity reserves the right to adjust ranges depending on the experience/qualification of the selected candidate as well as internal and external equity.
• Total Compensation = Base Salary + Incentive(s) + Benefits
