About the Role

The Water Meter Installer reports to the Smart Meter Deployment Operations Manager at Bermex. This position plays a key role in water meter maintenance and measurement. This position also requires a high degree of walking in outdoor environmental conditions, excellent time management, and exceptional flexibility day to day.

What You'll Do

Water Meter Maintenance:

  • Perform visual inspections of water service for leaks

  • Identify hazards at meter sites and report accordingly

  • Properly change out water meters of varying sizes and brands

  • Properly change out water meter registers for AMI/AMR upgrade

Water Meter Reading:

  • Read water meters

  • Enter data collected in the field into a handheld computer

  • Assist on additional projects, as necessary

Customer Communication:

  • Refer all consumer complaints to the appropriate authorities

  • Provide general information about the meter services to customers, when applicable

  • Use telephones, tablets, and/or computers to communicate

Other duties as assigned.

About You

Must haves:

Education:Some high schooleducation,must be 18 years of age or older

Experience:1 year experience working in outdoor conditions. Employees will be trained in meter reading.Mustpossessa valid driver's license

Nice to Have:

  • Education: High School Diploma or GED

  • Experience: 1 or more years of experience in the direct exchange of water meters and registers of varying sizes; 1 year of continuous work with the same employer, and/or 6 or more months working

Your Skills:

  • Ability to multi-task, and work independently and as a team

  • Exceptional flexibility in daily routines and route scheduling. Must be flexible in times of need, including extended nights and weekends.

  • Adequate time management skills to finish daily meter reads in a timely manner, figuring out an efficient way to read meters for that day

  • Excellent communication skills, comfortable interacting with management and customers

  • Ability to interact with unhappy or negative customers in a professional manner

  • Excellent attention to detail for problem solving and finding

  • Ability to walk long distances and prepare for weather conditions, accordingly

  • Proficient computer skills, including knowledge of Microsoft Office programs

  • Place a high value on safety, quality of work, and operational procedures

  • Basic knowledge of GIS systems and principles is required
