At Ascent Aviation Services, our Avionics Technicians uphold our core values of Respect, Safety, Quality, and Results while ensuring the highest standards of aircraft reliability. In this role, you will research technical data, perform inspections, testing, adjustments, and repairs on avionics systems—including radar, radio, navigation, autopilot, and compass systems—in accordance with FAA regulations, maintenance manuals, and company procedures.

As a 24/7 operation, we have openings across all shifts—including standard day shifts, 2nd shift, weekend shifts, and 12-hour shifts. Candidates must be flexible and willing to be assigned to any shift based on operational needs.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Research technical data and performs inspection, testing, adjusting, and repairing of avionics equipment, such as radar, radio, navigation, auto pilot, and compass systems, installed in aircraft in accordance with applicable maintenance manuals, FAA regulations and Ascent Aviation Services policies and procedures.
  • Accomplished maintenance actions are concisely and accurately recorded on repair station and/or customer provided approved documents.
  • Inspects components of avionics equipment for defects, such as loose connections and frayed wire, and for accuracy of assembly and installation. Tests avionics equipment under simulated or actual operating conditions to determine performance and airworthiness, using test equipment, such as oscilloscopes, digital meters and counters, and circuit analyzers.
  • Adjusts, repairs, or replaces defective components based on analysis of test results, following blueprints, schematics, handbooks, and other technical documents.
  • Calibrates installed or repaired equipment to prescribed specifications.
  • Avionics testing equipment such as VOR/ILS tester, fuel quality tester, DME tester, pitot-static tester, volt-ohm meter, hi-lifts, stands, ladders.
  • Ensures that proper documentation is made on training record for training received, and signed by Lead, Supervisor, or Manager.
  • Performs maintenance duties away from base on temporary duty.
  • Performs maintenance work such as repair and maintenance of company equipment and shop housecleaning.
  • Ensure that all work performed is done in a safe manner. Directs activities to protect employees from harm and maintain safe working conditions.
  • Avionics testing equipment such as VOR/ILS tester, fuel quality tester, DME tester, pitot-static tester, volt-ohm meter, hi-lifts, stands, ladders.

REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES:

  • 1-3 years of aircraft avionics technician experience.
  • Ability to organize and plan work adhering to deadlines and strong attention to detail.
  • A or A&P License and/or FCC license preferred.


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Post secondary education or training in aircraft maintenance, preferably Avionics, required.
  • Ability to read, write, and understand English, including following verbal and written instructions.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Requires sitting, standing or walking for extended periods of time.
  • Requires frequent walking, climbing and lifting, bending, reaching shoulder level, carrying, pushing or pulling weight up to 50 pounds.
  • Requires eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity.
  • Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.


EQUIPMENT OPERATED: 

  • Protective equipment required: Goggles, safety glasses, face shields, ear protection, apron, gloves, safety harness, breathing equipment.

WORKING CONDITIONS: 

  • The work location will include aircraft Maintenance hangars, the flightline, and Avionics shop.
  • Potential hazards include exposure to high intensity noise levels, extreme changes in temperature, electrical charges and radar waves, materials identified on the Safety Data Sheets, and working around moving machinery.


OTHER DUTIES:

  • May be required to work at both Marana, AZ and Tucson, AZ locations as business needs dictate.
  • Additional duties may be assigned at the discretion of department management.
