Job description

Position Summary
Martek Global Services is seeking a Senior Facilities Management Specialist to support the Department of War (DoW) High Performance Computing (HPC) Modernization Program at the Engineer Research and Development Center (ERDC) DoD Supercomputing Resource Center (DSRC) located at Aberdeen Proving Ground, Maryland.
This position provides technical leadership and operational oversight for mission-critical mechanical, electrical, and infrastructure systems supporting High Performance Computing (HPC) and data center environments. The successful candidate will help ensure the continuous operation, reliability, and modernization of critical facility infrastructure while partnering with government leadership, engineering teams, and contractors to support the DoW's mission.

Work Schedule: Monday-Friday (or 5 days/week); Requires on-call on a rotating basis

Responsibilities
Mission-Critical Infrastructure Operations

  • Provide engineering support for mission-critical HPC and data center infrastructure operating in a 24/7 environment.
  • Oversee the maintenance, operation, and repair of chilled water plants, HVAC systems, CRAC/CRAH units, power distribution equipment, generators, transfer switches, switchgear, and power monitoring systems. 
  • Support Building Automation Systems (BAS), including Metasys, Tracer, and SiteScan platforms.
  • Monitor facility performance and recommend improvements to enhance reliability, efficiency, and uptime.
Engineering & Technical Leadership
  • Review mechanical and electrical drawings, submittals, and engineering documentation for construction and modernization projects.
  • Provide technical guidance and recommendations to improve facility reliability, redundancy, and operational performance.
  • Support large-scale data center infrastructure upgrades and expansion projects.
  • Troubleshoot complex mechanical, electrical, refrigeration, and control system issues.
Contract & Asset Management
  • Support the acquisition, review, and administration of facilities-related contracts.
  • Coordinate vendor performance, contractor activities, and service delivery.
  • Procure facility equipment, replacement parts, and operational materials.
  • Maintain asset inventories, preventive maintenance schedules, and lifecycle management documentation.
Customer Support & Program Coordination
  • Serve as the primary facilities liaison with Government representatives, engineering teams, and program leadership.
  • Provide technical risk assessments and recommend cost-effective infrastructure solutions.
  • Support mission readiness by ensuring critical infrastructure availability for DoW Research, Development, Test, and Evaluation (RDT&E) High Performance Computing operations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned in support of program objectives.
Qualifications
Required
  • Active Secret Security Clearance (Top Secret preferred) (will consider candidates if they have all other necessary qualifications and have the ability to obtain one)
  • One of the following education and experience combinations:
    • High School Diploma and 8 years of related experience; or
    • Associate's degree and 6 years of related experience; or
    • Bachelor's degree and 4 years of related experience; or
    • Master's degree and 2 years of related experience; or
    • Ph.D. in a related field
  • EPA Universal Certification
  • Electrical or Mechanical trade certification
  • Experience supporting mission-critical facilities, data centers, or high-availability environments
  • Experience supporting construction, facility modernization, or infrastructure upgrade projects.
  • Strong working knowledge of:
    • HVAC and chilled water systems (All applicants must have this experience)
    • Electrical distribution and emergency power systems
    • Building Automation Systems (BAS)
    • Mechanical and electrical troubleshooting
    • Blueprint and engineering submittal review
Preferred
  • Experience supporting High Performance Computing (HPC) or DoW mission-critical environments.
  • Experience supporting large-scale data center operations.
  • Experience managing vendors, contractors, and facilities service providers.
  • Strong communication and customer relationship management skills.
