HVAC Control Mechanic

Location: 1800 Orleans Street, Baltimore, MD

Hours: 7a-3:30p

Pay rate: $35-$40 per hour


Perform maintenance, installation and repair work on instrumentation control systems (pneumatic and electronic) serving HVAC systems, equipment and components.  Also, performs installations, repairs and fabrication of sheetmetal/metal components related to HVAC and other trades.  This work is performed under general supervision and using the tools and techniques of HVAC technology.


High School diploma or equivalent.

Five years journeyman experience working as an HVAC Technician in commercial, industrial, or large facilities environment.

Successful completion of formal training in the HVAC trade at a vocational or technical school, college, or apprenticeship sponsor organization.

Training in instrumentation control systems (pneumatic and electronic) serving HVAC systems and components

Knowledge of safety rules, procedures and practices, including the proper use of safety equipment as defined by OSHA and industry standards.

Knowledge of sheet-metal installation, repairs and fabrication.

Applies HVAC instrumentation and control, sheet-metal and safety knowledge indicated herein.

Ability to diagnose complex automatic temperature control problems in a timely and cost effective manner.

Ability to install, calibrate, and maintain pneumatic, electric, and electronic controls.

Proficient in the operation of the Andover Infinity and Johnson Metasys systems.

Safely uses tools and equipment indicated herein.

5 years related work experience.

The full-time equivalent spent in a state-approved program may count toward the 5-year work experience requirement.

All types of tools and equipment normally used in the HVAC trade, including specialized equipment such as precision measuring instruments (dial indicators and calipers), powered portable, bench and hand tools (such as drills, grinders, compressed air), as well as non-powered hand tools.
