Position Description:
Nevada Gold Mines is looking for a Metallurgical Technician to join our team at our Phoenix operations.
At Nevada Gold Mines, our vision is to be the world's most valued gold mining business by finding, developing, and operating the best assets with the best people. Our people division is growing, and we are looking for a Met lab technician. As part of the team, the successful candidate will be a team player adding to our already, diverse, yet rewarding working environment. The ideal candidate will possess a background in process mining and metals.
Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will safely and efficiently perform:
  • Assist in metallurgical studies by executing sampling plans, preparing, and analyzing samples both in a lab and process plant setting.
  • Perform routine sampling, metallurgical lab test work, and data entry/analysis. Lab tests include, but are not limited to, acid leach tests, carbon quality control testing, plant sampling, solution analysis, sample preparation, particle size analysis, and plant inventory sampling.
  • Maintain laboratory and analytical equipment used in the process facility
  • Ordering and stocking of process laboratory supplies
  • Assists in reviewing new or enhanced metallurgical testing equipment or protocols
  • Assists in evaluating and administering contracts with vendors for the provision of services and equipment
  • Develops and maintains an understanding of applicable programs, practices and existing/proposed local, State and Federal regulations applicable to area of assignment
  • Performs other duties as required

Qualifications:
  • Two (2) years' experience in a metallurgical lab preferred
  • Knowledge of the basic principles and methods used in metallurgical, laboratory and processing analyses preferred
  • Ability to collect samples, process and accurately report on results required
  • Working ability in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Power Point) required
  • Ability to develop and maintain awareness of occupational hazards and safety precautions required
  • Skilled in following safety practices and recognizing hazards required
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing required
  • Ability to lift and carry 50 pounds at knee height required
  • Ability to read and interpret work orders required
  • Ability to work in a team orientated environment with others required
  • Ability to perform the essential functions of this position required
  • Proficiency with LabWare Lab Information Management System (LIMS) preferred
  • Basic mechanical aptitude preferred
  • Ability to perform the essential functions of this position required
  • Drivers License preferred
  • The ability to work a rotating schedule day shift is an essential function of this role
