SUMMARY:
The Maintenance Technician is responsible for preserving the condition and functionality of our business equipment and premises. Duties will include conducting quality assessments, scheduling repairs, maintaining inventory, and developing preventative maintenance procedures. A Jack-of-all-trades, with in-depth knowledge of maintenance procedures, hydraulic systems, and basic tools and appliances.
JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Perform mechanic skills including, but not limited to, mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, troubleshooting and repair of production machines
- Develop and perform Preventative Maintenance, adhere to manufacturers' schedules
- Record maintenance activities and repairs so as to record/audit performance results
- Responsible for providing technical assistance on all things related to facility maintenance including electric, landscaping, painting, carpentry, building construction, plumbing, etc.
- Maintain inventory controls for cost effective operations
- HVAC / Electrical / General repairs
- Recommend course of action to management based on costs
- Establish timeline and execute projects along timeframe
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment
- Adhere to all Metal Coatings and OSHA rules and regulations at all times and wear proper safety equipment while on plant grounds
- Comply with all policies for the safe storage, usage and disposal of hazardous materials
- Meet or exceed company safety standards
- Perform other job responsibilities as assigned by management
QUALIFICATIONS
Skills
- Plumbing, grounds keeping, electrical, hydraulic and carpentry knowledge
- Skill in the use of tools, machines and testing instruments used in the repair and overhaul of plant equipment and building services
- Knowledge of the basic operating principles of the electrical and mechanical systems and components found in most plant equipment
- Ability to carry out not only simple, but complex oral and written instructions and deal with problems from standardized situations and work experience
- Ability to apply knowledge of equipment operating principles to diagnose and correct malfunctions in plant equipment
- Good mathematical skills, including basic math, fractions and conversions of four-five digit numbers and common units of measurement in both metric and decimal system
- Ability to communicate well with supervisors, welders, leadmen, other Mechanics, maintenance personnel, co-workers and outside contractors
- High level of attentiveness and physical coordination to perform the work activities safely and productively
Education
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Certificate in HVAC is preferred
- Certificate and two (2) years of journeyman level experience in the maintenance and repair of industrial equipment or an equivalent combination of education, training or experience
Work Experience
- A minimum of 2 years’ experience in a similar role
- In-depth knowledge of electrical, hydraulic and other systems
Physical Requirements:
- Continuous exposure to extreme heat, extreme cold, extreme noise, and working outdoors
- Must wear protective equipment while at the location
- Requires walking, sitting, lifting, pushing, pulling, and climbing to a significant degree
- Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear, in order to communicate to employees/visitors as well as function safely around heavy rolling equipment
- Must be able to perform all job functions which include, but may not be limited to, pushing, turning, and/or pulling of controls
