About the Role:

The Quality Control / Sheet Metal and Piping professional plays a critical role in ensuring that all piping and sheet metal installations meet stringent quality and safety standards. This position is responsible for overseeing the inspection, testing, and verification of piping systems and sheet metal components throughout the project lifecycle. The role requires close collaboration with superintendents, construction, and project management teams to identify and resolve any quality issues promptly. By maintaining rigorous quality control processes, the incumbent helps to minimize rework, reduce downtime, and ensure compliance with industry codes and client specifications. Ultimately, this role contributes to the successful delivery of reliable and safe piping and sheet metal infrastructure within Ohio.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification or associate degree in a related field preferred.
  • 10+ years of proven experience in piping and sheet meatal installation and analysis within industrial or construction environments.
  • Strong understanding of quality control principles, inspection techniques, and relevant industry codes (e.g., ASME, API).
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and Sheet metal and piping isometrics.
  • Proficiency in using inspection tools and quality documentation software.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certification in Quality Control or Quality Assurance (e.g., CQI, CQA).
  • Experience with sheet metal fabrication and installation in industrial settings.
  • Familiarity with non-destructive testing (NDT) methods applicable to piping and sheet metal.
  • Knowledge of safety management systems and OSHA regulations.
  • Experience working on large-scale infrastructure or energy projects.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct detailed inspections of pipe installations and sheet metal work to verify compliance with design specifications and quality standards.
  • Perform piping analysis to assess system integrity, identify potential defects, and recommend corrective actions.
  • Document inspection results, prepare quality reports, and maintain accurate records for audit and compliance purposes.
  • Collaborate with construction teams to address quality concerns and implement corrective measures in a timely manner.
  • Ensure adherence to safety protocols and regulatory requirements during all quality control activities.

Skills:

The required skills of pipe and sheet metal analysis are applied daily to evaluate the integrity and compliance of commercial HVAC systems, ensuring they meet design and safety standards. These skills enable the professional to identify deviations or defects early, facilitating timely corrective actions that prevent costly rework. Preferred skills such as sheet metal fabrication knowledge and non-destructive testing techniques enhance the ability to assess a broader range of components with precision. Strong communication and documentation skills are essential for reporting findings and collaborating effectively with multidisciplinary teams. Together, these skills ensure the delivery of high-quality, safe, and reliable piping and sheet metal installations.
