We are seeking individuals with an entrepreneurial mindset to join our team as a General Manager (GM). You will be expected to achieve positive results in all departments, including Commercial Sales, Safety, Environmental, Operations, and Transportation. Ferrous and nonferrous processing experience preferred for this position.

Responsibilities of a General Manager
  • Provide customer service to existing and new suppliers.
  • Visit suppliers’ sites to view the scrap for sale.
  • Works with staff to ensure they are properly trained and know their duties and company policies
  • Works with staff to determine inventory levels and requirements.
  • Stays current with market trends and pricing
  • Leads daily tailgates, safety meetings, and Management Commitment meetings.
  • Performs Safety Conversations with employees in the facility to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Performs monthly safety inspection
  • Leads incident and property damage investigations
  • Responsible for reporting and managing work related injuries and safety measurements
  • Monitors equipment inspection records to ensure productivity of company assets
  • Manages the P&L statement to ensure the profitability of the facility
  • Supervise staff to ensure compliance with all State and Federal labor code
  • Communicate and interact with management, local officials, public in general
  • Clean up work area at the end of shift
  • Keep work areas neat and orderly
  • Regular attendance and punctuality are essential job functions
  • Organizing materials to have more effective use of space
  • Dispose of various waste materials in the appropriate manner
  • Inspection to ensure cleanup is completed
  • Effective housekeeping in workplace area is an ongoing operation for safety and better hygienic conditions for all team members.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.
Qualifications for a General Manager
  • Must pass a medical physical and drug test
  • Must pass a background check and credit check
  • Preferred – high school diploma or GED
  • Bi-lingual (English & Spanish) language skills a plus
  • Ability to: communicate with others effectively; understand direction (written or oral) and use basic math skills as the job demands
  • An understanding of the metal market well enough to negotiate pricing, delivery process, and production demands
  • Possess interpersonal skills to gain support of workforce and clientele when conducting business
