Sheet Metal Worker
Pay: $30.00/Hour
Per-Diem: $120.00/Per Diem
Location: Newport News, VA
Job Duration: 2-Years
Job Description:
The Sheet Metal Department is a highly versatile team of craftsmen that are responsible for fabricating, assembling and installing a wide variety of Components on Aircraft Carriers, Submarines and other Surface Ships. These sheet metal components include, but are not limited to ventilation systems, metal joiner bulkheads and framing, furniture, cabinetry, lockers, ladders and handrails, foundations, weapons spaces and wet spaces. As a sheet metal worker you will perform work governed by detailed technical work documents and procedural guidelines.
Experience:
Three years of experience as a first class Sheet Metal Worker in the installation of foundations, ventilation, bulkheads, shipboard furniture and sheet metal fabrication shop work. Marine experience preferred. Aircraft/Industrial/Commercial sheet metal experience is acceptable.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
Ability to comprehend complex ventilation assembly drawings, blueprints, and sketches to include weld symbols, material types, datum, and reference lines.
Ability to comprehend fractional and decimal dimensions with the use of a tape measure and other measuring instruments.
Ability to assemble piece parts in accordance with specifications in a quality manner.
Experience using small hand tools (electric drills, grinders, rivet guns), and shop equipment (drill press, press break, Shears etc.).
Must be a US Citizen.
Prior to employment, all new hire candidates must pass a background check and hair follicle drug test.
