About SON Metal Fab
SON Metal Fab is a family‑owned sheet metal fabrication company with over 30 years of industry experience, located in the Hanover Air Park in Ashland, VA. We provide complete, end‑to‑end metal fabrication services under one roof—including consulting, drafting, precision fabrication, welding, deburring, powder coating, and dependable on‑time delivery.
Our modern facility features state‑of‑the‑art machinery and equipment, allowing our skilled team to produce high‑quality custom metal components that meet exact specifications and tight tolerances, all while maintaining best‑in‑class safety practices.
 
Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced TIG Welder to join our production team. The ideal candidate has strong TIG welding experience with stainless steel, carbon steel and aluminum, and proficiency using grinders and finishing tools. This role requires attention to detail, the ability to read blueprints, and a commitment to producing high‑quality, consistent welds.
 
This role requires strong TIG welding skills and the ability to produce quality welds independently from day one.
 
Key Responsibilities
  • Perform TIG welding using gas tungsten arc equipment
  • Weld aluminum, stainless steel, and carbon steel components
  • Fabricate, install, and repair metal parts and assemblies
  • Use grinding and finishing tools to clean and prepare welds
  • Read and follow blueprints, shop drawings, and technical schematics
  • Maintain quality, safety, and productivity standards
 
Requirements
  • 3+ years of hands‑on TIG welding experience (light to heavy gauge material)
  • Ability to produce quality welds independently from day one (no trainees)
  • Experience welding aluminum, stainless steel, and carbon steel
  • Strong blueprint and schematic reading skills
  • Detail‑oriented, dependable, and adaptable team player
