About The Role
As a Senior Software Engineer you will use your existing strong React and NodeJS skills to build and enhance our current and future portfolio of exciting brands. You'll be joining a team of international engineers at an exciting time as we accelerate our product development and leverage tools like AI to enhance how we work and also offer new and exciting features to our customers. You'll be encouraged to develop your skills and given the opportunity to grow your career.
We use tools like Github, Slack, Jira, Cursor and Co-Pilot; with technologies like React, NodeJS, Typescript, Cypress, AWS Services and Cloudflare. We work as an agile product team from our central Barcelona office right next to the Cathedral in the heart of the action.
What You'll Do
  • Understand the short and long term direction of Boats Group and work as part of a product team to deliver success.
  • Contribute to the continued development and maintenance of some of the largest marketplace websites in our industry.
  • Communicate effectively with other employees both inside and outside the development team.
  • Periodically apply your analytical, and problem-solving skills to help identify, communicate, and resolve critical production outages and issues.
  • Stay current on software development trends and help identify which we should adopt to continue our success.

What You Should Have
  • B.Sc. in Computer Science/related field of study or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of professional experience developing and maintaining complex enterprise web applications in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
  • Strong knowledge of React, Next.JS and NodeJS application development, including both SSR (server-side rendering) and CSR (client-side rendering), with a strong focus on UX, quality and usability.
  • A solid understanding of Unit Testing and End-to-End testing with frameworks and libraries like Jest, React Testing Library, and Cypress.
  • A solid understanding of developing and operating web applications in a cloud environment like AWS.
  • Experience working with and developing React UI component libraries and CI/CD (Continuous Integration, Continuous Deployment) pipelines.
  • Awareness of:
    • Security Best Practice: Secure software development patterns, standards like OWASP and the ability to identify and resolve potential vulnerabilities in web applications.
    • Web Performance Optimization: Ability to optimize front-end performance with an understanding Core Web Vitals and tools like Lighthouse and RUM (Real User Monitoring).
    • SEO Best Practice: Search engine optimization (SEO) techniques, including on-page optimization, meta tags, and schema markup.
    • Web Accessibility Standards: WCAG (Web Content Accessibility Guidelines) and the ability to develop accessible websites that provide equal access to all users, including those with disabilities.
