EMPLOYMENT STATUS: Part time
POSITION TITLE: Marketing Intern
REPORTS TO: Marketing Manager
RATE OF PAY: Unpaid (students encouraged to apply for internship funding if eligible)
Who We Are
Mattress Factory is a contemporary art museum on the Northside of Pittsburgh, founded in 1977. We feature site specific installations created by artists in residence from around the world.
Who You Are
You are passionate about the arts, and there's no bigger rush than when people adore the shows, artists, exhibits, articles, outlets, etc. you recommend them. You're interested in gaining experience in a nonprofit arts setting and want to develop your understanding of how marketing works in tandem with existing departments to support the museum's overall mission.
Required Skills
• Strong written and verbal communication.
• Possesses the ability to balance being detail-oriented + consideration of "big picture" concepts.
• Basic knowledge of marketing concepts, tools, platforms, software, and digital + "irl" trends.
• Proficiency in a CMS platform (ex: WordPress), email and social management software (ex: Buffer or Mailchimp), Meta Ads Manager, Google Analytics, Google Search Console is a plus.
• Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program in a related field.
Your Role
• Includes but is not limited to market research, press outreach, social media management, content creation, campaign analysis, the updating of digital archives, creating/updating printed collateral, and providing general administrative support.
• Assist in the creation and implementation of marketing campaigns across multiple channels, including social media, email, web, SEO/SEM, and paid advertising.
• Monitor and manage social media platforms, including creating and scheduling content, engaging with followers, and analyzing performance metrics.
• Assist in the cultivation and analysis of campaign performance data and prepare reports with actionable insights for related projects.
• Collaborate across departments to design and execute marketing assets for events, exhibitions, membership, and educational programming.
• Assist with general administrative tasks, such as data entry, document organization, and maintaining the marketing materials inventory. • Other duties as assigned.
