Associate Project Manager will help build out a newly developed Mission Critical construction team. The APM will assist in the management of multiple projects while providing support to the Project Managers and other key members in the preconstruction phases as well as during the projects. Help coordinate projects and plans, schedules, and track the progress of projects and report their results. 

Job Summary

The Director of Project Management within Mission Critical projects will provide strategic leadership, operational oversight, and execution management for large-scale mission-critical and hyperscale data center construction projects nationwide. This role is responsible for leading multiple Project Managers, Construction Managers, and project teams while ensuring projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with quality standards.

The Director will oversee all phases of project delivery including preconstruction, engineering coordination, procurement, construction, commissioning, client management, and financial performance. This position will serve as the executive point of contact for internal leadership, owners, clients, contractors, and key stakeholders.


Responsibilities
  • Provide leadership and mentorship to Project Managers, Construction Managers, Field Engineers, and support staff.
  • Lead the execution of multiple mission-critical and hyperscale data center projects simultaneously.
  • Establish project execution plans, staffing plans, and operational strategies.
  • Oversee all project phases from planning and procurement through commissioning and turnover.
  • Own project financial performance, including:
  • P&L management
  • Forecasting
  • Budget development
  • Cost controls
  • Change order management
  • Revenue projections 
  • Manage projects exceeding $100M+ in total contract value.
  • Partner with estimating, preconstruction, engineering, and procurement teams to develop project strategies.
  • Review and negotiate contracts, subcontracts, and vendor agreements.
  • Monitor project schedules and ensure milestone adherence.
  • Lead risk identification and mitigation efforts.
  • Develop and maintain executive-level reporting dashboards.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with owners, clients, subcontractors, and key stakeholders.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety, quality, and environmental standards.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives across project management processes.
  • Support business development and strategic growth initiatives within the mission-critical market.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in construction management, Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 15+ years of construction project management experience.
  • 8+ years leading large-scale mission-critical or hyperscale data center projects.
  • 5+ years of leadership experience managing Project Managers and multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Experience managing projects exceeding $100M+.
  • Strong understanding of:
  • Duct bank installation
  • Underground utilities
  • Manholes and vault systems
  • Medium-voltage distribution
  • Cable and wire pulling
  • Electrical infrastructure
  • Mechanical systems
  • Commissioning processes
  • Experience managing EPC, design-build, or self-perform construction projects.
  • Extensive knowledge of:
  • Contract administration
  • Change management
  • Cost controls
  • Scheduling
  • Procurement
  • Risk management 
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA requirements and construction safety programs.
  • Proficiency with:
  • Primavera P6
  • Microsoft Project

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting AWS, Google, Microsoft, Meta, Oracle, or other hyperscale data center clients.
  • PMP certification.
  • OSHA 30 certification.
  • Design-build and self-perform utility construction experience.
  • Experience overseeing commissioning and turnover activities.
