At the heart of every transformative educational experience is a strong and dependable technology foundation. We are seeking an experienced Cloud Systems Engineer who is passionate about leveraging enterprise platforms to support teaching, learning, and research.

In this role, you will help steward our cloud and on-prem platforms ensuring that students, faculty, and staff can connect, collaborate, and innovate seamlessly. With a strong focus on Microsoft 365, you will deliver secure and reliable collaboration services while also contributing to our broader cloud and on-prem infrastructure ecosystem that supports the academic experience.

What You'll Do

Advance Enterprise and Digital Learning Environments

  • Administer and enhance the Microsoft 365 platform, with a focus on security, compliance, and usability
  • Deliver reliable enterprise services that support teaching, learning, and operations
  • Contribute to platform governance and architectural decisions
  • Partner with IT and campus stakeholders to align services with institutional priorities

Lead Microsoft 365 Collaboration & Messaging

  • Support and govern Microsoft 365 services including Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive, Power Automate, and Copilot
  • Manage messaging, collaboration, and compliance capabilities across the platform
  • Implement security, retention, and governance policies
  • Troubleshoot complex issues across cloud services
  • Support service lifecycle management and modernization initiatives

Support Cloud Platforms

  • Contribute to the administration and growth of Microsoft Azure services
  • Help design scalable, secure solutions to meet evolving needs
  • Participate in governance, identity management, and cost optimization efforts

Maintain and Modernize Infrastructure

  • Support on-premises systems, including VMware environments
  • Assist with backup and disaster recovery solutions
  • Contribute to storage/SAN platform management
  • Support modernization efforts bridging on-prem and cloud environments

Collaborate Across the University

  • Partner with IT Security, Networking, and academic units to deliver integrated solutions
  • Provide technical expertise to support campus initiatives
  • Contribute to documentation and continuous improvement efforts
 What You Bring
  • Bachelor's degree in a technology field, with 3-5+ years of application/system administration and Microsoft 365 platform experience or equivalent work experience.
  • Experience supporting Microsoft 365 services (messaging, collaboration, identity, and security) in an enterprise environment
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Azure
  • Working knowledge of private infrastructure, including: 
    • VMware virtualization
    • Backup and recovery solutions
    • Storage/SAN platforms
  • Strong troubleshooting, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • A collaborative mindset and commitment to supporting a diverse academic community

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in higher education or other mission-driven environments
  • Knowledge of PowerShell, Ansible, Terraform, or automation practices
  • Relevant certifications (Microsoft 365, Azure, or infrastructure technologies)

The anticipated hiring range for this position is: $74,367 to $100,000/year. 
The salary range provided in this posting reflects what we reasonably expect to pay for this position. Actual compensation offered or earned is dependent on experience, education and other factors including departmental budget.
