Respiratory Therapist (RRT/CRT)

Department: Clinical Services / Home Respiratory Care

Reports To: Clinical Program Manager / Director of Operations

Type: Full-Time, Exempt

Locations: Multi-site (VISN-specific, regional coverage)-----Merlin, Grants Pass, Medford, White City

Position Summary

Warrior Service Company is seeking a compassionate, knowledgeable, and highly professional Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) or Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) to provide high-quality clinical respiratory services to Veterans in their homes. This role supports ventilator management, oxygen therapy education, equipment checks, and ongoing follow-up to ensure Veteran safety and VA contract compliance.

The RT will serve as a critical clinical liaison between Warrior Service Company, the VA Medical Centers, and the Veterans we serveโ€”providing expertise, documentation, and timely response in all respiratory-related situations.

Key Responsibilities

Clinical Respiratory Care

โ€ข Conduct home respiratory assessments for ventilator, oxygen, CPAP/BiPAP, and cough assist patients.

โ€ข Set up, troubleshoot, and educate Veterans and caregivers on respiratory equipment, including:

o Invasive and non-invasive ventilators

o Oxygen concentrators (Stationary & Portable)

o CPAP/BiPAP/PAP therapy devices

o Cough assist machines

o Suction equipment

โ€ข Perform and document ventilator checks per manufacturer guidance and VA requirements.

โ€ข Complete scheduled follow-up visits, emergency responses, and safety assessments.

Patient Education & Training

โ€ข Provide clear, thorough education on equipment use, maintenance, cleaning, safety, and troubleshooting.

โ€ข Assess Veteran/caregiver competency and reinforce learning as needed.

โ€ข Deliver oxygen safety education and fire-prevention materials per VA contract.

Documentation & Compliance

โ€ข Complete all documentation in Warriorโ€™s systems (Salesforce or designated platform) within required timelines.

โ€ข Maintain accurate logs, ventilator battery check records, and required periodic assessments.

โ€ข Ensure all practices follow VA guidelines, manufacturer requirements, and Joint Commission standards.

โ€ข Report any safety concerns, non-compliance, or home environmental risks.

VA & Internal Collaboration

โ€ข Coordinate with VA clinicians, case managers, and respiratory departments on patient status.

โ€ข Assist VA teams with clinical questions, ventilator settings, and troubleshooting as needed.

โ€ข Work collaboratively with warehouse, dispatch, and technician teams to ensure seamless patient service.

Emergency Response

โ€ข Participate in on-call rotation, responding to urgent respiratory needs and equipment failures.

โ€ข Provide remote and in-person troubleshooting for life-sustaining equipment.

โ€ข Prioritize high-acuity cases and ensure rapid escalation when necessary.

Equipment Management

โ€ข Verify serial numbers, settings, and complete equipment documentation on all visits.

โ€ข Ensure backup ventilators, circuits, disposables, and ancillary respiratory supplies are stocked per contract.

โ€ข Perform basic equipment maintenance, battery checks, and functional tests.

Qualifications

Required

โ€ข Active RRT or CRT license (state-specific).

โ€ข 1+ years of respiratory therapy experience (Home Care, Acute Care, or LTACH).

โ€ข Valid driverโ€™s license and clean driving record.

โ€ข Strong clinical knowledge of ventilators, oxygen therapy, and home respiratory equipment.

โ€ข Ability to work independently in the field.

Preferred

โ€ข Prior experience with the VA or Veteran populations.

โ€ข Strong experience with:

o Invasive ventilation

o Non-invasive ventilation

o Home oxygen therapy

โ€ข Familiarity with DME/HME operations.

โ€ข Current BLS (required); ACLS (preferred).
