GENERAL SUMMARY: The Pharmacy Supervisor of the Retail Pharmacy will be responsible for managing and assisting the pharmacist team in their day-to-day tasks. Working in collaboration with the Manager of Pharmacy Services to integrate clinical expertise into the operations team. The Retail Pharmacy Supervisor will also be responsible for providing high-level clinical process input and oversight to ensure a strict level of medication safety and the highest level of pharmaceutical care is provided to our customers. Ensure that pharmacy operations conform to all applicable laws and regulations. The Pharmacy Supervisor will engage in pharmacy quality assurance, provide clinical oversight of operational practices, answer clinical questions and will complete ancillary pharmacist tasks required to drive operations.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provides clinical support and direction to staff. Resolves clinical, fiscal, personnel and quality issues.
  • Participates in the development and implementation of treatment guidelines, protocols, formulary changes and critical pathways for all drugs available in the retail pharmacy space.
  • Supervises the clinical activities of the pharmacists and retail pharmacy staff and fill in for the Retail Pharmacists when necessary.
  • Collaborates with the Manager of Pharmacy Services to develop annual budget; adherence to the same.
  • Analyze existing business processes and develop strategies for improvement.
  • Implement, monitor, and upgrade the improved processes.
  • Document all process changes and updates.
  • Monitor the impact of process changes and adjust as necessary.
  • Work with clinical staff, managed care and the business office to decrease mediation related claim denials and outstanding claims.
  • Develop policies and/or guidelines to improve revenue integrity, capture, and compliance.
  • Participate in the financial analyses of any proposed changes to determine charge and revenue implications related to the pharmacy charge description master (PCDM) maintenance.
  • Report out on key performance indicators for the retail pharmacy.
  • Participate in the Medication oversight committee and represent the retail pharmacy in other identified committees/meetings.
  • Utilize analytical tools to audit and analyze retail pharmacy data elements and formulary to ensure accurate billing, maximal revenue capture and overall services provided to Cooper Green Retail Pharmacy patients.
  • Actively research and stay current with important new drug availability, billing, and revenue related compliance and optimization topics to guide appropriate organizational decisions regarding the retail pharmacy.
  • In collaboration with the Manager of Pharmacy Services, develop process flows, education and communications to improve revenue integrity and compliance within the retail pharmacy.
  • Other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Required: Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy or PharmD and at least three (3) years of of experience with outpatient pharmacy in operations, infusion/oncology billing, retail pharmacy billing, compliance, and disputing pharmacy reimbursement denial. Valid Alabama Pharmacist License. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PrimeRx, Omnicell and other pharmacy program databases.

Preferred: MBA, MISM, PharmD, or other informatics training Advanced experience with Microsoft Excel, Access and Omnicell 10+ years of experience with PrimeRx maintenance, CDM Maintenance, and/or Omnicell

WORK ENVIRONMENT The work location for this role is on-site. This office-based role required extensive safety training, due to exposure to chemicals, dust, dirt, and grease in the environment. This role will require handling controlled substances, such as pharmaceutical, radiological, or other hazardous materials. The Supv-Pharmacy-Retail will manage supply purchasing for the department, which may include having financial control of or access to budgets, resources, and other sensitive information. This role typically works while sitting at a desk or table, but may require standing, walking, or lifting up to 50 lbs.

SALARY RANGE $109241.60-$177528.00 annually
