Job description

The FP&A Analyst, a key position in the Finance Department, is primarily responsible for supporting the Merchandising department by formulating financial models and data-driven analyses to drive the department in developing key merchandising strategies and delivering results in line with the Company strategic roadmap. This position partners closely with other analysts in the Finance Department, who support other core business units, and will actively participate in budget and forecast processes of the Company. 


Merchandising Financial Analysis

  • Analyze category and product performance across sales, gross margin, and inventory productivity metrics
  • Monitor key retail KPIs including sell-through, margin performance, inventory turnovers and aging, and product life cycle
  • Evaluate the financial impact of pricing strategies, promotions, and markdown activity
  • Identify risks and opportunities impacting category performance and profitability

Performance Reporting and Analytics

  • Develop and maintain dashboards and reporting to track merchandising financial performance and product trends
  • Deliver recurring performance analysis highlighting trends, variances, and opportunities across categories
  • Translate complex data into clear insights that support merchandising decision-making
  • Prepare reports and analysis for merchandising leadership and business reviews

Financial Modeling and Forecasting

  • Build and maintain financial models to evaluate category sales performance, pricing and promotion strategies, and margin maximization scenarios
  • Support forecasting and financial projections related to merchandising initiatives and assortment changes
  • Analyze historical performance trends to support forward-looking business decisions
  • Provide scenario analysis related to pricing, cost changes, and promotional strategies

Merchandising Decision Support

  • Partner with Buyers and Planners to maximize savings in inventory procurement cost and shorten TTM.
  • Conduct ad hoc analysis related to vendor performance, product profitability, and category trends
  • Support line reviews and merchandising meetings with data-driven insights
  • Provide recommendations that help improve margin performance and inventory productivity

Process Improvement and Data Optimization

  • Identify opportunities to improve merchandising reporting, analytics processes, and dashboard visibility
  • Support automation and standardization of recurring merchandising reports
  • Help improve data accuracy and usability across merchandising tools and systems

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex data and translate insights into business recommendations
  • Curiosity and commercial mindset with interest in understanding product performance, pricing, and customer behavior
  • Ability to communicate insights clearly to cross-functional partners and leadership
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Advanced Excel skills required; experience working with large datasets
  • Experience with data visualization tools such as Power BI preferred
  • Experience with SQL or similar data querying tools preferred
  • Familiarity with retail KPIs including sales performance, gross margin, sell-through, and inventory productivity preferred

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business, Data Analytics, or a related field
  • 3+ years of experience in financial analysis, FP&A, or retail analytics, within a brick-and-mortar retail environment.
