Job description

We are hiring for a Retail Merchandiser for our Salt Lake City distribution!  This position advises Retail Seafood employees on proper handling, displaying and promotions of Ocean Beauty LLC products.  Develops relationships with existing customers and provides information to maximize sales volume. Visits retail customers to demonstrate products, set up special displays, monitors stores product displays to promote fresh and frozen seafood products. Participates in special events at retail customer locations.  

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Assist the Retail Sales Manager in maintaining customer accounts through regularly scheduled store visits.
  • Advises retail seafood employees on proper rotation and presentation of seafood products.
  • Assists in writing weekly advertisements and “Merchandising Message” for use in stores.
  • Sets up in-store product displays.  Monitors displays.
  • Monitor and maintain appropriate shelf space in retail locations.
  • Participates in store opening demonstrations and promotional events
  • Advises retail customers/employees on proper handling, checking in and storage of seafood products.
  • Follows all company safety policies and procedures.
  • When designated, assists with quality assurance checks during packing of products prior to shipment to customer locations.
  • Responds to change productively and handles other duties as required

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimum of (1) one year experience in food retail sales.
  • Highly motivated, well organized, resourceful self-starter with knowledge of retail sales fundamentals.
  • Strong presentation and interpersonal communication skills, with general knowledge of the food service business.
  • Must work well under pressure, be able to prioritize tasks, and remain flexible to meet multiple deadlines and changing priorities. 
  • Basic level computer skills required for MS Word and MS Outlook.
  • Preferred seafood industry experience but not necessary.
  • Must possess valid driver’s license and good driving record.
  • This position will require travel outside the state on occasion for store visits, promotional events, and other related duties.
