Job description

Job Overview: 

The Merchandising Assistant will play a vital role in supporting the Merchandising team to ensure that our product assortments are well-organized, meet our customers’ needs, and align with our brand's vision. This position is ideal for a highly motivated individual who has a passion for fashion, strong organizational skills, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment. 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Support Merchandising Operations: Assist the Merchandising team with day-to-day tasks, including data entry and communicating with cross functional team members.  

  • Product Coordination: Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Marketing, Planning, Visual, Site Merchandising and Tech Design to ensure all samples are logged and tagged with correct information.      

  • Trend Analysis: Monitor industry trends, and competitor activities to track and inform the buying team to inform merchandising decisions.   

  • Sample Management: Manage and organize product samples, ensuring they are properly stored, tracked, labeled and made available for meetings and presentations. 

  • Order Tracking: Assist in tracking and managing purchase orders, ensuring timely delivery and communication with vendors as needed. 

  • Visual Merchandising Support: Collaborate with the Visual Merchandising team to support in-store product displays. 

  • Reporting and Analysis: Compile and analyze sales data and inventory reports to support decision-making and identify opportunities for improvement. 

  • Administrative Support: Provide general administrative support to the Merchandising team, including scheduling meetings, preparing presentations, and handling correspondence. 

Qualifications: 

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Merchandising, Business, or related field preferred. 

  • Experience: 1-2 years of experience in a merchandising, buying, or retail support role preferred; experience in fashion retail is a plus. 

  • Skills: 

  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities. 

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. 

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word). 

  • Basic knowledge of retail math and inventory management systems. 

  • Attention to detail and ability to work under tight deadlines. 

  • Passion for fashion and understanding of plus-size apparel market trends. 

This is a non-exempt position.  The compensation for this role is $50,000 based on a 40 hour work-week.  

This position is based in our Secaucus office 5 days a week.
