What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Menu Creator, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Menu Creator, you need a strong understanding of culinary techniques, food trends, nutrition, and pricing strategies, often supported by experience in food service or a culinary arts degree. Familiarity with menu design software, inventory management systems, and allergen labeling tools is typically required. Creativity, attention to detail, and strong communication skills help you design appealing menus and collaborate effectively with kitchen staff and management. These skills are crucial for crafting menus that satisfy customer preferences, optimize costs, and enhance the overall dining experience.

Menu Creators often collaborate with chefs, nutritionists, and management teams, which can present challenges in balancing creativity with practical constraints such as ingredient availability, dietary restrictions, and budget limitations. Additionally, aligning the menu concept with the restaurant's brand and customer preferences requires strong communication and adaptability. Navigating feedback from multiple stakeholders and maintaining consistency in quality across all menu items are also typical challenges in this role.

Job description

Pinkbox Doughnuts isn’t your old-school bakery — we’re the bold, colorful, made-from-scratch doughnut headquarters serving up 70+ Insta-worthy flavors daily, including icons like Pinky & Pooh. Our signature coffee menu is always rotating too, because we like to keep things fresh, fun, and never boring.

With 14 locations across Las Vegas & St. George, Utah, plus Salt Lake City it’s no surprise we’ve been voted “Best Doughnuts in Vegas” year after year. Tourists flock, locals stay loyal, and our doughnuts keep going viral for a reason.

If you love working with your hands, can handle a fast-paced vibes, and want to help create the doughnuts people dream about — this is your role.

About the Role

As a Doughnut Creator at Pinkbox, you’re the magic behind the scenes — preparing dough, mixing batter, baking, or frying to perfection, and setting our doughnuts up to be fresh, fluffy, and flawless. You’ll follow recipes with accuracy and consistency to keep the Pinkbox standard high every single day.

What You’ll Do

  • Follow recipes and directions to create delicious doughnuts
  • Accurately weigh ingredients and measure liquids (precision matters!)
  • Prepare, cut, and fry doughnuts
  • Safely operate fryers, ovens, and bakery equipment
  • Prepare dough, glaze, icing, fillings, and other tasty components
  • Store dough and doughnuts properly to maintain freshness and quality
  • Follow portion controls and par levels to support production flow
  • Understand and follow food allergy procedures and special-order restrictions
  • Track and record proper times and temperatures for products prepared
  • Maintain awareness of inventory and communicate supply needs
  • Follow all food safety, sanitation, and cleanliness procedures
  • Jump in on additional tasks as needed to keep the kitchen running smoothly

What You Bring

  • 1+ year of months of pastry or baking experience preferred
  • Must have a County Food Handler’s Card
  • Must be legally authorized to work per State and Federal guidelines
  • Strong attention to detail + pride in doing things the right way
  • A positive attitude and ability to stay focused during high-volume production

Physical Requirements / Working Conditions

  • Standing and walking for the duration of each shift
  • Bending, lifting, and carrying up to 50 lbs
  • Ability to multitask and stay positive in a busy kitchen environment
  • Typical shifts are 8 hours, including weekends and holidays
  • Most of our shops are open 24/7 — we keep the doughnuts coming!
  • Kitchen environment includes heat, occasional wet floors, and sharp equipment
  • Must comply with uniform and hygiene standards
  • Expect a fun, fast-paced, high-energy environment (with lots of sprinkles)
