Job description

We are looking for an Associate Designer with experience in menswear, knits and sweaters for our client, an iconic men's apparel brand.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Supports Design Director as an active participant in the design and development of Menโ€™s Cut & Sew Knitwear and Sweaters.
Responsible for key elements of the product design process, including market research, pattern development, sketching in 2D and 3D, fittings, and tech pack hand offs.
Research competitors frequently through in-store visits and e-commerce sites.
Helps maintain organization of design materials and digital information.
Ability to design commercially viable products for target customers and price points.
Attends design meetings, presentations, takes detailed notes and conducts follow up tasks regularly.
Participates in fittings and works closely with Tech Design, Product Development, and Merchandising teams.
Creates and maintains complete tech packs for multiple seasons simultaneously.
Responsible for approving lab-dips, knit-downs, strike offs for development, as well as pre-production approvals for bulk.
Occasional travel will be required domestically.

SKILLS:
High level of creativity with a passion for design
Working knowledge of Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop.
Ability to learn new computer technology including 3-D design and NEDGraphics.
Knowledge of silhouettes, fabrication, yarn, and stitch.
Strong taste level with experience designing for full price and off-price markets.
Strong organizational, time management, and communication skills.
Ability to present in front of a diverse audience of cross-functional partners.

REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor degree (B.A) from a college or university, major in Design
3+ years of design experience, preferable in Menโ€™s Sweaters and Cut & Sew Knitwear
