Job description

Company Description Fly by Night LA is a young world fashion brand specializing in mens/boys/womens apparel with a focus on young silhouettes, quality materials, and thoughtful detailing. Based in Los Angeles, CA, the company blends streetwear influences with refined tailoring to create collections that feel both current and enduring. Team members collaborate closely across design, production, and merchandising to bring cohesive seasonal lines to market. The studio culture values creativity, experimentation, and a hands-on approach to developing distinctive menswear pieces.

Role Description The Mens Apparel Designer is a full-time, on-site role based in Los Angeles, CA, responsible for designing and developing menswear collections from concept through production. Day-to-day tasks include creating sketches and technical drawings, selecting fabrics and trims, and collaborating on seasonal concepts, color stories, and key styles. The designer will attend fittings, refine garment construction and fit, and work closely with pattern makers and sample rooms to ensure design intent is realized. This role also involves preparing tech packs, reviewing samples and prototypes, partnering with production on quality and cost considerations, and staying current with mens fashion trends and industry developments.

Qualifications

  • Strong foundation in Fashion Design and Mens Fashion, with a portfolio demonstrating contemporary, market-relevant menswear.
  • Hands-on experience with Textiles and Trims, including fabric selection, sourcing, and understanding of performance, drape, and durability.
  • Proficiency in Fitting and garment construction, with the ability to adjust patterns and details to achieve consistent, high-quality fit.
  • Ability to translate concepts into clear sketches and technical drawings, ideally using design software such as Adobe Illustrator or similar tools.
  • Knowledge of the full apparel development cycle, from concept and sampling to production, including collaboration with vendors and factories.
  • Strong attention to detail, time management skills, and ability to manage multiple styles and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills, with an inclusive, team-oriented approach to working across design, production, and merchandising.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design or a related field, or equivalent professional experience in mens apparel design.
