Litigation & Enforcement Associate Attorney

Direct Counsel is seeking a Litigation & Enforcement Associate Attorney to join the Fintech & Financial Advisory practice of a prestigious Am Law firm in one of the following offices: Austin, Boston, Charlotte, Chicago, Houston, Irvine (Orange County), Los Angeles, Miami, New York City, Portland, Sacramento, San Francisco, Santa Monica, Seattle, Silicon Valley (Menlo Park), or Washington, D.C.

This is an exceptional opportunity for an attorney with 2-4 years of litigation or enforcement experience to join a nationally recognized Fintech & Financial Advisory practice. The role focuses on representing financial services companies in complex litigation, government investigations, and regulatory enforcement matters involving consumer financial services and payments.

Responsibilities
  • Represent financial services clients in litigation, government investigations, and regulatory enforcement matters.

  • Manage all phases of discovery, including responses to government subpoenas, civil investigative demands, and document requests.

  • Coordinate document collections and communicate with client representatives and document custodians.

  • Assist in preparing for negotiations with government agencies regarding the scope and resolution of investigations.

  • Participate in witness interviews, client interviews, depositions, and deposition preparation.

  • Draft legal memoranda, pleadings, motions, briefs, settlement agreements, client correspondence, and regulatory submissions.

  • Assist in developing litigation, regulatory, and settlement strategies for matters in federal and state courts.

  • Conduct legal research involving federal and state consumer financial services laws and regulations.

  • Communicate with clients regarding litigation strategy, regulatory risks, and business operations.

  • Prepare and edit reports, presentations, client alerts, and legal publications.

Qualifications
  • J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school.

  • Active membership in the state bar of the office where the attorney will be located.

  • 2-4 years of litigation and/or government enforcement experience.

  • Experience representing clients in litigation, investigations, or regulatory enforcement matters.

  • Experience with consumer financial services, fintech, or payments matters is preferred.

  • Excellent legal research, analytical, drafting, and writing skills.

  • Outstanding verbal and interpersonal communication skills.

  • Strong organizational abilities with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.

  • Highly motivated, detail-oriented, and capable of working independently as well as collaboratively.

  • Strong academic credentials and commitment to exceptional client service.

Compensation & Benefits
  • Salary: $235,000-$310,000, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
