Job description

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR
As part of our North America Men's Sports Marketing Basketball team, the Principal, Sports Marketing, Team/Athlete Men's Basketball will execute the strategic vision for North America Basketball through the mens portfolio, elevating athlete and team services, athlete leverage in partnership with Sports Marketing Consumer Construct Mens Lead and cross-functional leaders. You will support ongoing marketing processes and business results, informing strategic shifts based on consumer behavior, interests and marketplace needs across North America.
Additionally, you'll inform the overall shape of our men's basketball sports marketing portfolio, aligned to the vision and strategy of the brand and business. You'll leverage sports marketing men's basketball teams, athletes and partnerships to drive growth, while maximizing and modernizing our contractual rights. The candidate needs to have a team first mindset, critical thinking and problem-solving skills; lead and/or operate in ambiguous environment, while driving clarity for your teams and partners.
WHAT YOU WILL WORK ON
You will be part of a diverse team, aligned to the men's offense, to effectively serve our Athletes, Teams and Partnerships - end to end, from youth to pro basketball.
  • You will inform all invest/divest decisions with the Men's Basketball Sports Marketing Portfolio.
  • You'll partner closely with cross-functional brand and business partners at the Global and Geo level to ensure that Nike gets maximum value from our athlete and team partnerships.
  • Ensure our men's basketball athletes are aligned against Nike's Purpose Offense, specifically around sustainability, community, diversity and equality.
  • Execute the budget with accountability around accurate forecasting and communication.
  • Lead with collaboration, a growth attitude, be data driven and remain passionate about key priorities

WHO YOU WILL WORK WITH
You will report to the Sr. Director of Mens Basketball Sports Marketing and work directly with the NA Basketball Men's Team. You will be part of a diverse team aligned to the men's offense, signature athletes, and athlete/brand experience. You'll partner closely with the Sports Marketing Service Team. Additionally you will work with Brand Marketing, Energy, Athlete Business Development, and Product Merchandising leaders to ensure Sports Marketing efforts are in service of brand and business objectives.
WHAT YOU BRING
  • 8+ years of experience in Sports Marketing, Brand Marketing, or closely related field
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Communications, or a related field; equivalent combination of education and experience accepted
  • Proven ability to embrace ambiguity and change, helping the team adapt and remain productive
  • Portfolio management, critical thinking and negotiation skills
  • Basketball industry knowledge across Men's and Womens (Grassroots, Collegiate, NBA/WNBA)
  • Partnership management; ability to develop and leverage internal and external partnerships
  • Enterprise thinking, end-to-end business knowledge
  • Capability to drive interpersonal alignment at all levels of the organization
  • Execute results in a balanced way, serving our consumers and partners, while engaging and growing our people in a safe and people-first environment
