This is an ideal opportunity for experienced nurses, semi-retired nurses, parents returning to the workforce, or healthcare professionals looking to supplement their current schedule while making a meaningful impact in the lives of older adults.
As part of University of Vermont Health and Porter Medical Center, Helen Porter Rehabilitation & Nursing provides exceptional skilled nursing, rehabilitation, memory care, and long-term care services in a warm, resident-centered environment. Residents benefit from specialized care focused on dignity, safety, and quality of life within a supportive community setting.
Position Details
Job Title: Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)
Location: Helen Porter Rehabilitation & Nursing, Middlebury, VT
Schedule: Part-Time, 8 Hours per Week
Shift: Days, 6:45 AM - 3:15 PM
Weekend Requirement: Rotating Weekends
Unit: Memory Care
What You'll Do
As a nurse on our Memory Care Unit, you will:
  • Provide skilled nursing care to residents living with memory loss and cognitive impairment
  • Assess, monitor, and document resident conditions
  • Administer medications and treatments according to physician orders
  • Support resident safety, comfort, and quality of life
  • Collaborate with nursing assistants, providers, therapists, and interdisciplinary team members
  • Communicate effectively with families and care team members
  • Promote a calm, supportive, resident-centered environment
  • Advocate for residents while maintaining dignity and respect in every interaction

Qualifications
RN Candidates
  • Current Vermont Registered Nurse (RN) license or eligibility for Vermont licensure
LPN Candidates
  • Current Vermont Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license or eligibility for Vermont licensure
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in memory care, long-term care, skilled nursing, assisted living, rehabilitation, geriatrics, or acute care
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Compassionate, patient-centered approach to care
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team
