Schedule: Full-time, daylight position, 8 AM - 4 PM + with every other weekend.

More about our team 

We are acute care inpatient unit for Psychiatric patients ages 18-64. Works collaboratively with the treatment team to create a therapeutic treatment environment.

How you'll contribute

A Recreational Therapist - Behavioral Medicine who excels in this role:

  • Participates in patient care team's delivery of personalized, efficient care with respect for patient's spiritual and cultural difference. 

  • Considers factors related to safety effectiveness and cost in planning and delivery of patient care. 

  • Plans, implements, and evaluates a broad spectrum of therapeutic activities that address the psychosocial, social, developmental age and emotional needs of the patient. 

  • Completes the Therapeutic Activity Profile and plan that identifies patient's recreational skill, strengths, weaknesses, and leisure lifestyle. 

  • Conducts group and individual therapeutic recreation interventions utilizing therapeutic rationale and effective group skills. 

  • Recognizes, records and reports to team any signs, symptoms, progress or variance in the patient's condition. 

  • Effectively communicates the plan of care to patients, families, significant other and treatment team. 

  • Participates in unit safety checks as directed.  Knowledge of unit safety policies. 

  • Maintains confidentiality of all patient, hospital, and employee related information. 

  • Attends and participates in a minimum of six staff meetings annually.  Reads and signs off meeting minutes of all staff meetings that were not attended. 

  • Commits to Service Excellence and continually strives towards the achievements of Commitments to Excellence. 

  • Participates in performance improvement unit based activities and hospital based activities as directed. 

  • Maintains annual competencies.

What we're looking for 
Applicants should have a Bachelor's Degree in Recreational Therapy or related field. Additional requirements include:

  • Therapeutic Recreation Specialist certification/license.
