Job description

ACE: Girl Scouts - Community Outreach Specialist
The Center for Academic Community Engagement at Siena University (ACE) recruits candidates from around the United States to serve with community-based organizations that work to alleviate poverty in the Capital District. You will have the opportunity to work on capacity-building projects in education, health care, the environment, housing, criminal justice, and/or economic development. You will make an impact with a non-profit organization and the Capital Region by coordinating volunteer-led projects, conducting research, writing grants, and facilitating outreach. Based on your skills and interests, you will be matched with an organization for the year. You will be managed on-site by a supervisor, mentored by 2 VISTA Leaders, and trained by an experienced VISTA team. You will attend a Pre-Service Orientation, an On-Site Orientation, and ongoing training for your personal and professional growth. Additionally, our cohort model provides community and support to help you make the most of your service year experience. We are celebrating fifteen years of success and have had over 200 VISTAs complete the program. Become an ACE AmeriCorps VISTA Member and be a part of something bigger than yourself! NOTE: OUR VISTAs DO NOT LIVE ON CAMPUS AND ARE NOT REQUIRED TO BE SIENA UNIVERSITY GRADS.
Member Duties : Create toolkits and documentation that staff and volunteers can sustain after the VISTA term, Research community organizations, schools, and neighborhoods with high populations of Black and Hispanic girls to identify partnership and outreach opportunities, Conduct research on youth engagement models and best practices Collaborate with membership, marketing, and program teams to design and implement strategies that reduce barriers to joining and staying in Girl Scouts Build relationships with local community leaders, cultural organizations, after-school programs, and faith-based groups to support collaborative girl and family engagement, Develop outreach plans, presentations, and culturally relevant materials to strengthen visibility and trust in key communities, Coordinate feedback collection from caregivers, leaders, and community partners to ensure models meet community needs
