Welcome Center Attendant / Membership Associate

The Welcome Center Attendant / Membership Associate serves as the first point of contact for visitors and prospective members. This role is responsible for delivering exceptional customer service, providing accurate information about programs and services, processing membership sales, and maintaining a welcoming and professional environment. The ideal candidate is friendly, detail-oriented, and comfortable engaging with the public to promote membership options and support overall facility operations.

Customer Service & Front Desk Support
  • Greet all members in a warm and professional manner.
  • Answer questions regarding programs, services, schedules, and facility amenities.
  • Respond to phone and email inquiries promptly and courteously.
  • Check members in and verify account status.
  • Assist with registration for classes, programs, and special events.
Membership Sales
  • Provide information on membership types, benefits, pricing, and promotions.
  • Guide prospective members through tours of the facility as needed.
  • Maintain a strong understanding of membership features to confidently promote and sell memberships.
  • Process new memberships, renewals, and cancellations accurately.
Administrative & Operational Tasks
  • Process payments, receipts, and daily transactions with accuracy.
  • Assist with maintaining cleanliness and order in the welcome center area.
  • Report maintenance or safety concerns to appropriate director.
  • Support the team during special events, peak hours, and promotional activities.
  • Follows all YMCA policies
  • Any and all other duties assigned by your direct supervisor.
Availability
  • This position covers shifts that fall between 11:00 a.m. and 9:30 p.m. At this time, we are not hiring for morning shifts. This time frame represents the range of possible working hours, not the full length of each shift. This is a part-time role, and scheduled days and hours may vary from week to week based on staffing needs.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Previous customer service or sales experience preferred.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Comfort with point-of-sale systems and basic computer operations.
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
  • Friendly, approachable demeanor with a customer-first attitude.
  • Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand for extended periods.
  • Light lifting (up to 50 lbs) may be required.
