Job description

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
A crater works with lumber and plywood to build pallets, skids, and customer crates including the internal packaging.

  • Build, construct and assemble industrial crates.
  • Read blueprints and or dimensional drawings to build crates to customer specifications.
  • Using hand and power tools cut and assemble materials to build the crates.
  • Assist in construction of crates using panel saw and up-cut chop saw to cut plywood and lumber for crates.
  • Assist in the construction and assembly of crates using pneumatic hand tools (stapler, nail gun).
  • Pack product into crates using misc. packing materials
  • Prepare and close barrier bag material using hot roller/sealer
  • Strap and band crates and skids for shipment.
  • Move and load crates using forklift.
  • Ability to use hand and power tools and read tape measure.
  • Dismantle and store crating tools and materials after use.
  • Operating Vehicles, Mechanized Devices, or Equipment - Running, maneuvering, navigating, or driving vehicles or mechanized equipment, such as forklifts.
  • Controlling Machines and Processes - Using either control mechanisms or direct physical activity to operate machines or processes (not including computers or vehicles).
  • Job may require overnight travel, out-of-town projects at times.
Minimum Qualifications (Experience, Skills, and Education)
  • Valid Driver's License
  • Three (3) years proven experience or comparable field preferably within the construction service industry in a carpentry related work (framing, crating, residential finish work).
  • Ability to use precision measuring tools and equipment; hand, power and pneumatic tools, read tape measure.

Physical Requirements & Working Conditions:
Performing General Physical Activities - Performing physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling of materials up to 50 pounds.
