Job Summary:

Project Location: Brownsville, TX

Pay Range: $33.50

Responsibilities:

  • Journey Level Ironworker shall have the knowledge and expertise to ensure that all craft are trained to follow all project policies and procedures.
  • Sets up hoisting equipment for raising and placing structural-steel members. On most projects the crane and rigging department sets the cranes for steel erection.
  • The use of tag lines will be required on all members that are hoisted.
  • Have knowledge of how members are fastened.
  • Be able and understand the principal fundamentals of installing steel members into approximate position while member is supported by hoisting device.
  • Have the knowledge and expertise to install members into final position, using turnbuckles, sleaver bars, porta powers, and hand tools.
  • Aligns holes in member with corresponding holes in previously placed member by using drift pins, bull pins, spud wrenches and sleaver bars.
  • Verifies vertical and horizontal alignment of members, using Bazooka bobs, lasers, and levels.
  • Have knowledge and ability to bolt members to keep them in position until they can be permanently bolted or welded in place.
  • Have the ability and knowledge to modify steel members to make alterations, using oxyacetylene welding equipment or grinders with metal cutting discs.
  • Have adequate knowledge of proper procedures associated with loading, transporting, or unloading materials, tools, equipment, and supplies.
  • Assist in lifting, positioning, and securing of materials and structural members during installation.
  • Performs minor maintenance or cleaning activities of tools and equipment.
  • Typically requires a minimum of 48 months industrial construction experience.
