A Day in the LifeMedtronic is seeking a Principal Artificial Intelligence (AI) Engineer to join the Strategy and Transformation Team within the Enterprise Risk & Facilities organization. This team operates at the intersection of business strategy, technology, and enterprise transformation, serving as a catalyst for Medtronic's continued evolution in a dynamic environment.
In this high-impact role, you will design, build, and deploy generative and agentic AI solutions that automate, optimize, and transform tools supporting Medtronic's global operations. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional partners to implement intelligent automation, architect AI-powered workflows, and develop scalable, robust APIs and platforms that drive operational efficiency and enhance staff experience across global facilities.
Your contributions will directly support Medtronic's strategic objectives by leveraging advanced AI / Machine Learning (ML) frameworks and modern development practices to deliver measurable business impact and help shape the future of Medtronic.

Must Haves

  • Bachelor's Degree and 7+ years of experience designing and implementing agentic AI systems for coordinated workflow automation OR Master's Degree and 5+ years of experience OR 3+ years and PhD

  • Proficiency in one or more programming languages such as Python, Java, or C#, and experience with AI / ML frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch, Scikit-learn)

Nice to Have

  • Experience architecting and deploying generative AI platforms for enterprise operations, leveraging multi-agent orchestration, tool-integration frameworks, and modular AI components

  • Proven history of designing and engineering AI solutions that coordinate across multiple digital services and tools to solve complex operational challenges

  • Ability to translate business needs into clear, actionable technical requirements, enabling effective adoption of AI solutions across the enterprise

  • Experience developing secure, scalable, and maintainable APIs for AI and enterprise system integration

  • Familiarity with integrating AI solutions with facility management platforms (e.g., CMMS, BMS, IoT devices)

  • Background in building digital platforms with strong front-end development and user experience (UX) focus (e.g., Streamlit)

  • Exposure to advanced analytics, data modeling, and cloud platforms (e.g., SQL, Azure, Snowflake)

  • Strong communication skills, self-motivation, attention to detail, and a passion for innovation and continuous learning

For Baccalaureate degrees earned outside of the United States, a degree that satisfies the requirements of 8 C.F.R. 214.2(h)(4)(iii)(A) is required.

Salary ranges for U.S (excl. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification/education, market conditions, and location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others).
