Job description

Under the direction of the Patient Access Director, you will manage the daily registration operations for all assigned locations, including the emergency center.  The manager is responsible for setting up and managing the metrics of the department to assist with the financial success of the organization. The manager is also responsible for mentoring a culturally diverse team, including creating and sustaining an organizational culture that fosters inclusiveness and equity.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manages the registration processes and their associated activities, which includes the accurate data collection of demographics, financial and all other information directly related to the registration process.
  • Ensures compliance with key government regulatory requirements such as Consents, EMTLA (Emergency Medical Treatment and Active Labor Act), IM (Important Message), MOON (Medicare Outpatient Observation Notice) and MSPQ (Medicare Secondary Payer Questionnaire). Recommends and implements new processes to enhance the department’s performance, productivity, and quality.

  • Optimizes front-end workflows to prevent denials and minimize write-offs.
  • Motivates staff to achieve the highest level of customer satisfaction and meet the department and organizational goals for customer service and financial performance.
  • Provides coaching and mentoring to the supervisors.
  • Regularly reports and monitors key performance indications and partners with leaders to adjust operations as needed to meet goals and objectives.
  • Maintains up-to-date knowledge of healthcare industry trends, regulations, third-party payers etc.in order to communicate and make operational changes as needed. 
  • Participates in committees, projects, and initiatives within the organization to ensure continuous improvement of operations.
  • Performs other functions within the scope of responsibility and qualifications.

EDUCATION AND RELATED EXPERIENCE:

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree or comparable professional experience in lieu of a degree.
  • Minimum of 2 years of healthcare management experience.
  • Strong understanding of all areas of the revenue cycle.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft software.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Proven record in leadership, mentoring and developing direct reports.
  • Ability to successfully function in a fast-paced, service-oriented environment.
  • Ability to flex schedule to oversee 24/7 operations.

Preferred:

  • Bilingual English and Spanish
  • Prior to Meditech Expanse experience
