Tergar Meditation Community supports individuals, practice groups, and meditation communities around the world in learning to live with awareness, compassion, and wisdom. Grounded in the Tibetan Buddhist lineage of our guiding teacher, Yongey Mingyur Rinpoche, our online and in-person programs are accessible to people of all cultures and faiths, and support a lifelong path toward the application of these principles in everyday life.


Tergar International is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that develops and delivers Tergar programs, in partnership with our sister organization Tergar Asia. Tergar International is based in the United States (Minneapolis / St. Paul, Minnesota), with a staff of nearly 70 employees and core contractors working in various locations around the world.


Job Description:

Tergar International is seeking an experienced Senior Social Media Marketing Specialist as part of the marketing and communication team. With exciting growth plans, we are always looking to add innovative and human-centric people to our remarkable team.


In this role, you'll have the chance to create engaging content that speaks to the heart of the Tergar community. You'll build relationships with community members by connecting with them on social media and forums, as well as building and supporting communities using various tools and online platforms. Plus, you'll help develop and implement content marketing and social media strategies that align with our goals to increase our online presence, build effective brand awareness, and improve our marketing efforts.


In this role, you will:

  • Develop and curate engaging content for various platforms, including blogs and social media channels, collaborating with marketing, community, and design teams.
  • Manage and grow our social media presence across platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, and TikTok.
  • Foster a safe and inclusive environment within the community.
  • Build and foster relationships with followers through active engagement, responding to comments, and facilitating discussions.
  • Monitor and analyze social media metrics to assess the effectiveness of campaigns and strategies, providing insights for improvement.
  • Gather insights and data from the community to inform future content and marketing strategies, ensuring alignment with audience needs.
  • Supervise the work of the Social Media Specialist.
  • Collaborate with marketing and communications teams to create and execute social media campaigns that align with organizational goals.
  • Oversee the creation and implementation of the monthly content calendar, which includes monthly organizational objectives and initiatives.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, emerging platforms, and best practices in social media and community engagement.
  • Ensure progress on all platforms by using analytical tools such as Google Analytics and others.


Key Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience working as a Social Media Specialist, ideally in a non-profit, social impact, or volunteer-driven context.
  • Exceptional communication and storytelling skills, with the ability to craft compelling, on-brand content across a variety of formats (articles, videos, social media, etc.).
  • Strong design and video editing skills with the ability to create independent content.
  • In-depth knowledge of Buddhism and Mingyur Rinpoche's teaching and meditation-related topics.
  • Data-driven mindset, with the ability to analyze community engagement metrics and user behavior to inform content strategy.
  • Excellent knowledge of Facebook, YouTube, Instagram, and other social media best practices.
  • Hands-on experience with content management systems, email marketing platforms, and social media publishing tools. Strong technical aptitude.
  • Project management chops, able to juggle multiple competing priorities and deadlines while keeping the content engine running smoothly.
  • Passion for our mission and a deep understanding of our target audiences and their needs. Empathy and emotional intelligence to connect with followers.
  • BSc degree in Marketing or a relevant field.
  • Fluency in English.

Location & Schedule:
