POSITION SUMMARY
The Medication Technician (Med Tech) will be responsible for ensuring safe, accurate, and timely medication management for residents. This full-time role is essential to supporting the care team by organizing resident medications, auditing medication compliance monthly, and monitoring for changes in resident condition related to medication use. The Med Tech will collaborate closely with Caregivers, Field Supervisors, Lead Field Supervisors, and Executive Administrators to maintain high standards of resident safety, health, and well-being. Compassion, attention to detail, and strong organizational skills are key for success in this role.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Medication Management
  • Organize and label medications for residents according to physician orders.
  • Audit resident medications monthly to ensure proper organization, labeling, and compliance with physician orders.
  • Verify accuracy of new medication deliveries from pharmacies and report any discrepancies.
  • Assist in training caregivers on safe medication handling and documentation.

Resident Care & Monitoring
  • Observe residents for side effects, drug interactions, and any changes in condition.
  • Take and record vital signs as directed.
  • Assist with collecting lab specimens when needed.
  • Support caregivers with activities of daily living as appropriate.
  • Report concerns about residents to the Executive Administrator promptly.

Collaboration & Compliance
  • Partner with the Field Supervisors and Lead Field Supervisors to ensure staff adherence to medication safety standards.
  • Assist in preparing resident files and medications during admissions and discharges.
  • Maintain clean and organized medication storage areas.
  • Uphold all state and facility regulations regarding medication management.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Active CNA, CMA, or Medication Technician Certification required (depending on state requirements).
  • Criminal background clearance required.
  • Minimum two years of experience in an assisted living or healthcare setting, with direct experience in medication administration and auditing.
  • Strong knowledge of medication safety protocols and elderly care regulations.
  • Reliable transportation and/or valid California Driver's License.
  • Pre-employment physical and TB test as required by state regulations.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to follow oral/written instructions.
  • Compassionate and empathetic approach to resident care.
