TRANSPORTATION DRIVER
Job Description
Title: Transportation Driver Job Type: Hourly / Non-Exempt
Department: Transportation & Rentals Location: Anaheim, CA
SUMMARY
The transportation driver will safely load, haul, and unload various types of material handling, construction, and general warehouse equipment from the rental facility to / from our customer's site. This position is also responsible for the daily maintenance of all paperwork, logs, and documents.
Responsibilities:
The following responsibilities are general guidelines and are not intended to be an exhaustive list of responsibilities. Duties and responsibilities are subject to change based on business needs and at management's discretion.
  • Transport, deliver, and retrieve equipment according to delivery/pickup instructions.
  • Report transportation delays to dispatcher, customer, and/or department manager.
  • Use appropriate tools and techniques to secure load(s) in accordance with Department of Transportation specifications.
  • Demonstrate proper use of rental and new/used equipment to customers.
  • Check in / out all rental equipment prior to transportation/delivery; note any equipment damage and report to management.
  • Maintain all transportation records for inspection/request by management or other state-specific traffic law enforcement.
  • Operate all fleet vehicles and equipment safely and in accordance with Company, Federal, and State procedures/requirements.
  • Observe all safety rules and regulations at customers' job sites, facilities, and branch locations.
  • Maintain daily DOT driver logs.
  • Maintain a daily checklist to perform vehicle and load inspections before/after deliveries and pickups.
  • Maintain service and appearance of truck per DOT regulations.
  • Report all driver or equipment accidents to the department manager within 24 hours of occurrence.
  • Any other duties as assigned.

Education/Additional Requirements:
  • High school or equivalent.
  • 5+ years of related experience transporting heavy equipment, material handling, medium / light construction equipment using manual and auto transmission tractor-trailer, required.
  • 3 to 5 years' experience driving at various speeds, locations, inclement weather, terrains, traffic, and heavy traffic.
  • Experience with chalking, chains, binders, straps, tie downs, and four-point, preferred.
  • Class A CDL without restrictions, required.
    • Endorsements not required.
  • Excellent driving record, required.
  • Must have great customer service skills and a professional demeanor.
  • Excellent communication, both verbal and written.
    • Effectively communicate via telephone, face to face, email, and written means.
  • Must be able to multitask while ensuring follow up and execution of required tasks.
  • A high degree of organization and ability to work effectively in a fast paced environment.
  • Must be a high energy individual with a strong work ethic and desire to succeed.
  • Must be able to safely lift to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to operate equipment and properly train on the use and care of equipment.
  • Ability to secure loads safely.
  • Must be able to pass a DOT physical exam.
