Job Description:

Responsibilities

Health Research, Inc. is seeking a Program Coordinator I. The Program Coordinator I (Western New York) will coordinate outreach and technical assistance activities in support of public health workforce awareness in the Western New York Region (i.e., 17 counties and the Western New York Regional Office (WNYRO)). This includes supporting initiatives such as K-12 engagement, apprenticeships, fellowships, externships and internships in collaboration with local health departments (LHDs), academic institutions and other regional, state, local and community-based partners. Duties include establishing and maintaining relationships with the LHDs, K-12 programs, institutions of higher education, and other workforce partners in the 17 counties of Western New York; working with LHDs and community-based partners to design and establish internships, fellowships and externship opportunities, and providing ongoing support to the LHDs as they implement these programs; coordinating and providing technical assistance support to partners and participants including providing training; coordinating the development and maintenance of memoranda of understanding with public health institutions of higher education in the region; maintaining an up-to-date inventory of participants and their placements; communicating regularly and providing ongoing support to host organizations, supervisors and participants, including identifying current gaps and areas for continuous quality improvement; creating and providing oversight for professional development programming for participants; promoting public health workforce awareness programs in the region including at career fairs and community events; and other appropriate related duties.

Minimum Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree in a related field and three years of experience in program coordination; OR an Associate's degree in a related field and five years of such experience; OR seven years of such experience. At least one year of the experience must have included supervision of staff and/or program management. A Master's degree in a related field may substitute for one year of the general experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience working on public health program planning, design, implementation, and evaluation.

  • Demonstrated professional experience engaging with academic institutions which may include K-12 programs and institutions of higher education (colleges, and universities).

  • Demonstrated experience working collaboratively with local health departments on public health programming.

  • Demonstrated recruitment experience in health care, public health, nursing, and/or clinical positions.

Conditions of Employment

Grant funded position. Compliance with funding requirements such as time and effort reporting, grant deliverables, and contract deliverables, is required.

Valid and unrestricted authorization to work in the U.S. is required. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.

Travel up to 25% of the time will be required.

The selected candidate must reside within a reasonable commuting distance of the official work location specified in the job posting and must also be located in or willing to relocate to one of the following states: New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Vermont, or Massachusetts, prior to hire.

This position is eligible for a hybrid work schedule, with a combination of onsite and remote work.

Work Location Expectations

At HRI, the nature of hybrid and onsite work varies by position. Some roles require full onsite presence, while others allow a hybrid schedule. Managers determine the specific telecommuting expectations for each role based on operational needs and job responsibilities. If designated as hybrid, you will divide your time between working remotely and reporting onsite. Regardless of telecommuting status, all HRI employees must live within a reasonable commuting distance of their official work location and must reside in one of the following states: New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Massachusetts, or Vermont.
